Hey Everybody, I just bought a 1946 Buick Sedanette Super. Basically a shell/body in good shape. After thinking how I was going to bring the car back to life, I bought a 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. The wheel base is the same, so I'm hoping the Buick body will fit on the Cadillac chassis. So, I'll listen to any advice, suggestions etc. I would love it if this frame swap is common! Thanks, Eric
Good idea! If you start a new thread, (maybe with some pictures eh) in the General Discussion area it will more views and replies. Sounds like a damn good idea to me tho! Welcome to the H.A.M.B.!
Get a hold of "The Wild Turkey46" on the H.A.M.B. Dale has a '50 Buick on a 77-79 chassis and could give you good guidance.
Thanks for the replies! I'm getting some photos to post. I have done a quick measurement of both frames and yes the Cad is wider in the middle. So I need to do some more analysis. I'll also try to contact "the wild turkey 46",,,, Eric
Hey The Dude,, You are correct, big width diff between the two frames. However, the front clip from the Caddy might work. It's close the the front frame width of the Buick. Otherwise the best choice may be a Fatman front,,, I just want to do the job within a budget. Have you done a similar project?
