Hello.. have a '58 235 and are about to do a turbo 350 swap.. I have everything purchased and planned down to a T.... except no one makes a bracket for the kickdown cable... I can make one easy, but I wanted to see what some others had done first... I have a stock setup with the 1 barrel. Have talked to Langdon and Patrick about this too... but pictures are a 1000 words!

    Thank you kind HAMBers!

Surely someone in here has a 6 with a turbo 350 (or the likes) behind it... would appreciate the help!

I'm interested in seeing what people have done as well. I'm running a 235 with dual Carter's mated to a 700r4. Haven't been able to find any information about kick down for these motors

  4. I just left my th350 kick down cable off, just down shift it myself. However if you are using a 700r4 or a 2004r you must hook up the kick down/t-v cable.

I heard of guys somehow hooking up the cable to the the actual gas pedal, not the throttle linkage, but the gas pedal... Never seen it in person, but is sounds do-able.

See I have heard that you will burn up the turbo 350 if you do not hook up the kickdown... langdon told me i needed to hook it up for the ****** to last... he said to build a bracket off of the mounting plate of the carb... sounds easy, but a pic would be great! So few mounting possibilities next to these little 1 barrels... v8s are too easy!

As the do***ent linked by firengine103 says...

On some transmissions, like the 700R4, the TV cable is all-important and is more than a kickdown switch. It modulates the pressure within the transmission valve body, and it won't function right without it.

Ford AODs are also dependent on the TV cable being hooked up and properly adjusted.

Sorry, I re-read your question and see you were looking for TH350 specific info. It looks like the TH350 has a vacuum modulator that performs most of the function of modulating the line pressure. So you might be able to do without the kickdown cable ... but it would be good to have, I would think.
