I have a friend who has a 56 crown victoria that I have been trying to buy for several years . Yesterday he finally shot me a price so we go today to look at it at his brothers barn slash garage where it has been stored for 20 plus years and it was no where to be found!!!!
I have had owners that couldnt find the title but never the whole car !!!!
His family has several old cars so I am hoping it turns up !!!

There were several other hamb friendly cars there, several 57-59 retractable's, several T bird's but the CROWN was not to be found.

  4. Its been scrapped. You will read about it soon (I'm sure) as a cast axle that snapped.

I've run into this with an engine. Drove 60 miles to buy it, when I got there he could'nt find it. Even as I was leaving, he still claimed " it's around here somewhere".

It's happened to me. Years ago I bought a 61 Chevy convertible, drove it home and parked it in a garage I was renting. I never got around to fixing it up and for the life of me I don't remember ever selling it or doing anything with it. I have racked my brain and have come to the conclusion I just moved and left it there. That is the only thing I can come up with.

I hope someone opened up that rickity garage door years later and had their own "barn find" story. :D

You might be right. It was only $10 a month, but X 528 months that would be $ 5280 I owe him. He can keep the car!:D

His family including his brother are all into classic cars and have quite of a collection . I really think the brother has moved it to another one of thier various barns and it will surface in a few days.

No way am I showing a photo of the 48 where it is setting (I think) right now. I may have to get the chain saw out and cut the weeds for firewood.

  23. I used to tour with The Carpenters who bought each other and other family members special interest cars as gifts. They kept them in warehouses around Downy, Ca. and had photo albums of what was in each warehouse. One time while Karen was showing me some she reached way back into a bookcase and pulled out an old dusty album full of cars and said "Hey Richard, remember these?" He sure did but neither could remember the location of the warehouse they were in or how many years since they filed them.

I talked to a functioning alcoholic years ago who told me...he traveled in his job and looked for 57 Chevvies to buy and sell. He was drinking heavily back then and one time way out in the country he saw a 57 sticking out of a shed. He stopped at the farmers house and offered to buy it and the farmer told him that he had bought it a year ago but had never come back to get it

low merc, does your friend drink? :)

  26. Wingspread7 I saw a tv special where they kept a lot of their cars in a hanger in Signal Hill. High light was a 57 plymouth.
Speaking of not remembering I would wake up in the morning & look out the window to see if my car was there as I didn't remember dring it home. This was way back in the 50s & life was good.
