A while back I bought the open drive conversion from a truck for my 3 speed and installed it. I have changed plans and want to put the ball adapter back on. When I removed it (and kept all the pieces) I recall a sheet of rubber type of thing, was that just for vibration dampening where it mounts to the K member? Also, if anyone has a picture, or diagram of how it goes together I would much appreciate it.
Not sure what truck you have but the only rubber thing I can think of in the rear of a Ford box is in the mount. You might want to get your hand on the Van Pelt book on early Ford boxes. There are also a lot of info on the Van Pelt website that might get you through.
Van Pelts is a great source for parts and information. Plus if you call them for an order you talk to the man himself. Great customer service....
This link shows pics of the parts involved. The 5089 rear supports all have the molded rubber ring bonded to the appropriate steel mounting bracket. The B-5089 mount is the correct one for 1932......they all stack the same, like the 40-5089 shown in the top pic. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_transID_3speed-rearmounts.htm
That is exactly what I have been looking for! hanks for the help. My torquetube arived today, so I will need to get that changed back so I can cut the tube and get my rear axle mounted.
