I made some lower support panels for the quarters this week and made a floor section for the back, and started tube frame to support the outer floor as the floor has a fairly deep channel job. This is the supports marked out , making sure to fold them left and right. tip the curved edge on the swaging machine. finish the edge with a hammer and dollie. Use the stretcher to straighten the panel back out as the curve makes the edge short. weld in the panel. Rear floor welded in, that's it for now. Cheers Steve.
Steve, I am not seeing / understanding how you created the end of the bead in the floor with the piece of pipe / tubing. I hope you can elaborate a little more. Kindest regards and fantastic thread. David
Hi David, The bead is made first , then you lay the floor down on a bench with the bead up. Then you get the tube with the half notch cut in it and lay it over the end of the bead and smack the tube with a hammer to flaten and round end of bead. I hope this makes it clear, the photo of the tube wasn't very good. Cheers Steve.
This is my favorite knd of thread! I enjoy seeing the first cl*** fabrication of metal bodies and parts. You are doing a great job of the fabrication and explaining it all. ~Alden
