So here's the deal- i have my Grandfathers tools,or some of them. Basically about 20 ford script wrenches, and various others. I'm going to make a shadowbox, and set them up as "displayed". they are in the natural state= 1/3 black,1/3 bare/1/3 rusty. This is not a "what should I do thread",but more of what would YOU do? Options are= leave them as is, I can powdercoat them =black,or "almost chrome",and the last option, which would be tops is real chrome. The real chrome is a lil costly-Not that I didn't love my gramps, but, without forking over some dough,I can do in house. if you had an opportunity to do this- What would YOU do? Sounds like it should be a poll, but I want real feallings behind this. Thanks-Kid
I keep the tools I have from my grandfather in my toolbox, and use them....but they're not Ford script wrenches.
I'd just clean them up with a wire wheel and some oil. And displaythe with a picture of your grandfather above them
Black finish tools will simply be black shapes with no detail in a shadowbox. Paint them a nice silver or hammertone grey.
I use my dads old tools. What better way to remember him, than turning the wrenches he treasured. Keep the tradition alive. Use them.
""natural state= 1/3 black,1/3 bare/1/3 rusty"" Gets my vote..I like to leave the natural "patina" as they have survived..
Leave them as is - just as your Grandpa used them and what he held. Otherwise use them. I have a bunch of tools my Grandpa gave to me and I love using them.
