Someone offererd me a 1957 F-350 for free! What was I to do? Can't say no. So, I Left Visalia CA at 12:30 am yesterday morning for Las Vegas, NV to pick it up, got back home at 4:00 pm after driving 750 miles almost non-stop. The old bastard has been sitting in storage for 5-6 years, who knows how many in a field before that. Today in 3 and a half hours I got this POS running and driving after sitting all those years. The truck that is, not me. What fun old Ford trucks can be. New push truck for the Uni? Who knows? Might put a flatbed on it and make some sort of rolling patio for hangin' at Elmo, I don't know, it was free. Now Tim........I know your house. Where are you going to put it?!? And what did your wife say? You must have good neighbors. I would have grabbed it too! good score!-H.R.D.-
Sure wish I could find something like that to follow me home!!!!!!!!!!! Nice find best of luck with your new toy. Jimbo
Looks like an old tow truck. I did the same thing drove 800 miles round trip (15 hrs) for my 59. Mine wasn't free though. Nice score
That's what it was. That thought has come to mind. Kathy was very happy to go with me to get it. I'm gonna take it out to Charlie's house, he has a few acres and few other "Fridges" for it to mingle with. A couple of the neighbors came over a thought it was pretty cool, (I told them it wasn't gonna stay ) That's not a bad idea either.
I second the "rolling patio" idea. Make it a party truck! Build a railed deck with fold-down stairs. An easy-up cover, barbecue grill, some coolers and a folding chair or two and you are SET. Don't forget some outside speakers for party tunes!
This was discussed more today. Actually thought about a fringed awning with Chinese lamps hung around the outside, astro turf, table and some adirondack chairs. There are some other things like that running around El Mirage.
You mean there was a vehicle in Vegas that didn't belong to this guy? Seriously though thats a cool truck, and I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Damn Tim, another hundred miles and you would have been at my house, and I would have made you a hell of a deal on my '60 with factory 4WD.
That has possibilities. I rather like the flatbed party platform concept. A ramp truck would be great too though.
And I probably would have! Or at least bought you and Kathy lunch... Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Tim, 'just' slap an Airstream on the back and instant camper, push vehicle, and motorhome registration fees that are the same as vintage cars!
