'48-'53 starters are the same, possibly up to '56; I've heard that when they switched over to 12V in '57-'60 that the flywheel teeth # changed. I've seen some guys rig up the Bendix starter out of a Plymouth or Dodge car (using a relay). As for the brakes, Rusty Hope sells a disc brake kit for the fronts

thanks again for the help. I have noticed two different style front ends for the 52 b3. One has the job rated plack on the front. The other has the 3 stainless bars. Was there a style change during the year? I have the 3 stainless bars.
    Thanks Larry

I have a '52 with the 3 stainless bars, but that is not correct as the 3 grille bar setup was used '48-'50. In '51, the front end changed to the 2 grill bar/whisker/turn signal/Job-Rated medallion, as well as a contour change on the hood and doors. The cab dash panel and steering wheel also changed, as well as the location of the windshield wipers. Basically, '48-'49 were the same, '51-'52 were the same, '50 looked like the '49 but had significant mechanical changes that carried over to '51, and '53 looked like '52 except for the rear fenders that were new & in production up until '84 ('53 gas tank & frame were different also).
