New guy from Fantasy Speedway.me

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by FantasySpeedway, Sep 4, 2012.

  1. Mornin' folks.

My name is Ron, and I have been lucky enough to be part of a great group who have decided to do the impossible - operate a non-profit, all volunteer dirt race track running early era vintage stock cars. Early era means stock in-lines and flatheads powering 30's & 40's coupes & sedans with straight axles and leaf springs.

The only thing that is NOT old school is our safety equipment. We do upgraded roll cages (have you seen some of those original "cages"?), seats, harnesses, helmets, etc. We do our racing for fun (no purses or trophies) and we all have to go home when the racing is over.

We don't "fudge" it on the race track so we can (and have) found ourselves upside down. We try not to do that as a routine, but because we are really racing our cars, we do have incidents.

We operate a rather primitive (we intend to keep it that way) 3/8 mile clay surfaced racing facility located in Unity Plantation, Maine, using primarily era appropriate track service vehicles - 1948 GMC water truck, 1947 International water truck, 1952 Ford push truck, and a 1948 Chevrolet wrecker with hand winch. Our goal is to immerse everyone in the 50's when they come through the gate. We still do hotdogs for a buck !

    Our website is http://fantasyspeedway.me

Thanks for allowing me to join your neat group, and I hope I am able to make a contribution on occasion.

    Ron

    Welcome aboard, Ron
Sorry I have been out of touch for so long. Hope to get out there to see you guys soon.
This place is like a home away from home, so I can still imagine my hands are greasy even though I am sitting in an airport waiting for a plane.
Say Hi to Tom for me,
