Just curious if the dash trim for a 1955 or 1956 Chevy car work on a 1957 Chevy truck? I have never owned a 55-56 Chevy car so I have nothing to make any comparisons to on my 57 Chevy truck dash. The trim I am talking about is the Alum. trim with the Bow-Ties in it that go around the radio, lighter, etc. If it does, are there any Mods. to it to make it work? Just trying to be a little different if I can. Thanks!
I've seen it done (and have considered it on my '56) but don't know if it takes modification- looking forward to this thread!
Have both of them setting side by side in the barn. The short answer is no. But, I can see if I had more than one set of the trim I might be able to make it work. Need several pieces to get rid of all of the extra knob holes, then I'm thinking it is really going to look like it was pieced together. They do make a reproduction radio delete center that eliminates the radio holes and possibly the lighter hole, but now you are going to be spending some bucks. Looks like the corner pieces are going to need some m***aging as well.
btw the picture is deceiving, the top of the trim is quite a ways lower than the underside of the dash "lip" at the left end. You can't really see that because the picture was taken from a low angle. In other words, it looks worse in real life than it does in the picture.
Just my personnal preference, I tend to agree. If he wants something different I'd go to Autozone or some place similiar. They sell some really kick*** 3/16-1/4 " half round self adhesive chrome trim that is very pliable and when installed with care looks damn near factory
Thanks everyone for the input on the idea for "sprucing up" my dash a little with the car dash trim. Thank you very much Squirrel for the pics. Squirrel, if you think it might work without too much trouble, as I have a very simple mind myself, I would appreciate it. I just thought it would look kinda cool and be a topic or conversation at the cruise-ins sometime. Thanks in advance!
