I am putting together a late flathead to put in my Model A Pickup, I want to put on a nice set of pipes, thinking back I cant remember a real good sounding mufflers on a flathead, we us to block off the heat risers with pennies to make them pop back which sounded great. I then bought a 1956 Mercury I put on a set of AP Gl*** packs and boy would they talk. Anybody have any expierence with flatheads that would really make them talk. Thanks John

  2. Smitty's (Smithy's) or about any other smallish bore steel pack sounds good on a flatty. Small straight pipes sound good as well if you leave them long.

No mufflers, full pipes out the back. If you feel it is too loud, you can always put some mufflers in later.

I've never owned a flatty powered rod, but have heard enough of em to say i agree..
Nothing like the sound of a nicely built flat head with straight pipes.
And if it's not to hopped up it may not be very loud even straight piped.
