Go for a 277 MPH Ride on Salt

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Waddayacare, Sep 4, 2012.

  1. Okay, so the car is a little O/T. But anytime you can see what it's like to make a record 277 mph p*** on salt, well a guess a '69 Dodge Charger Daytona ain't all that bad.

  2. Takes a lot of engine to turn that many Rs at that speed.

270+ at a little over half throttle.....they have a lot more potential. I've been following Scott's work on the electronics for a while, it's an impressive machine.

  15. Ha Ha!

Yeah there's a guy in Buffalo (NY) that I know that has 4 or 5 "Birds". They're cool but you just never see a Daytona.

It used to be 1 mile. Might be in 1/2s now but I can't say.

If it makes it any more on topic, I did the sheetmetal on that car for Lee in my shop. It's the newest car I've ever worked on...haha. I replaced both quarters, shortened the decklid, filled a bunch of holes, straightened hundred of dents, etc., etc.

Ryan Fane/ Brinks Racecraft did the outstanding fab work on the car.

Here's a before and after of the car in my shop (there's a Model A with a Hemi in the background, so it's not OT :) )

No, but if it keeps the post from being closed, I'll agree that it is...haha. Seriously, I know the car isn't pre-'65, but in my opinion Bonneville should never be OT.

    Here's the actual powerplant:

I'm fairly sure God drives a 69 Daytona....

I like how, when he cuts it off, it takes a long time to slow down even under no power. That tells you it's not pushing a lot of wind.

  22. Black ones are 1/4 mile intervals and the orange are mile markers.

    Nice work Brian.

Geez Christ call a ****in' plumber!

    Why not???

    Jesus rode a Harley! :D

  24. Nice job Mr. B***.

  25. The martini sitting up on the wing is a nice touch. someone definately checked that off thier bucket list.

  26. Got a chance to talk with Lee Sicilio at Bonneville and get a first hand look at his new ride. The attention to details on both the exterior and interior are astounding. I expect when he gets the machine shaken down that runs way North of 300 mph will be pretty routine. Great job Lee

Whoa, thanks for the lunch time rush! Thats the fastest my computer screen in my cubicle have ever gone! Whoa, I'm all giddy now and have to run to the water cooler to tell people!

Next time you hit the salt flats and a random guy (me) calls "shot-gun", go ahead and start without me, I'll try and catch up!

I'm just kidding. Thanks for the video and awesome car!
