"The Sour Sisters" or "Pandemonium" were both fuel cars from California and Texas respectively. "The Flying Bedstead" was another one that ran in NorCal a long time ago. I agree with AV8 though I loved the "involvement" names like Hashim-Hylton and Crosley "The Ridge Route Terrors".
Best name: Back in the early '60s, one of the fastest cars around Toledo was a 1960 Ford Starliner with a worked-over 406. His rear fenders bore the name "Shaker Shaker", and he usually lived up to the name. My Car Name: I had a '55 Bel Air hardtop at the time, and on my best nights I was the third-fastest small block in west Toledo. After a year or two, I decided to sell it and put "For Sale" on the rear fenders in typical Roth-style car-name-lettering. After a month I started hearing people saying things like "did you see 'For sale' blow off that '60 Impala with the 348?" They thought it was what I named my car. Needless to say, the lettering came off the next day.
Newbomb Tirk's "Pie Wagon" & Tarzans "Nookie Wagon" and soon to be at a show near you "My Little Chop Top of Horrors"
The badest street racer in the metro Detroit area in the 60's was "Silver Bullet" Supposedly NEVER beaten. I've got a photo around here somewhere I'll post. My buddy Bob dragraces his Anglia called "Hellacious" around these parts.
Theres a flat black g***er style chevy II in Victoria called "King Rat" been around forever. Shiny knows the one.

Denise, the Silver Bullet was Jimmy Addison's Belvedere. One of the best street racers ever. Not many legends like him and Big Willie (L.A.) were real, but those two were REAL! There was a story in one of the mags about the car. Fuzzy memory tho, can't remember if it was in Hot Rod, Car Craft or Pop Hot Rodding. Anyone got the issue?
Another guy has a transplanted deisel engine in a '56 Ford and across the deck lid is painted "Deiseldorf"....should just name it "Deisel ****" [/ QUOTE ] Ain't that a trip!I lettered the thing and I couldn't believe it either!
Krupnut..., I forgot all about the "HEMIHUNTER" thanks for bringing that one up! Here's the Heaven and Hell G***ers...! http://www.dragracingart.com/pages/betweenHH.html
I really like "Intercorsica". My all-time favorite is old, and from the Harley world: The Silent Greyfellow.
Local car from the late 60's was a 1957 Ford with "Tijuana ***** Posse" on the doors. Another local car in the mid 70's was a 23 T-bucket called "**** Tang". A friend had a 33 Plymouth coupe in the 80's that once was know as "Diaper Rash". And my current '29 A PU is plain old "Otis".
1low are you talking about project "x" cause if you are, its in one of my favorite movies of all time "Hollywood Knights" Tony Danza(Duke) drives the yellow 57 chevy minus the hood. Gets beat by a cobra. The movie is funny as hell and has alot of customs in it. I give it a enthusiastic two fingers up.
About 35 years ago I remember seeing a yellow 1950 Chevy coupe. I was just a kid then, but the car name really impressed me. It was named Mr. Pepsident, you know like the toothpaste, "you wonder where the yellow went."
I remember "Pist-n-broke" and "Lost wages"...always thought if I had a boat I'd call it the "Sea Hare" (c-hair )
Saw a flattie-powered Model A tudor in a junkyard that someone had crudly cut down and pieced together to resemble a roadster, I always thought she should've been called "Torchy."
Not much with names I put ****** shaft hardening by the pros on my racecar they made me take it off! Theres an old bracket racer here has and old A says DIRTY MARGARET--Feder
