2 1/2" Milwaukee hole saw (for "Swiss cheesing" frame rails), check. Cheap Chicago drill motor, check. Plugged in, check. Good grip, check. Saw grabs a tooth, oops!
Looks like you may have got your money worth out of it anyway. But that had to be hard on the wrist!!!!!!
Yeah, the chuck was on the way out anyway. Had'er for a couple years, and have a nice Milwaukee waiting it's turn. Fortunately God engineered my wrists better'n Chicago engineered their drill motor's internal bracing.
Finished up paint & lettering, and re-mounted tub. Looks nice. Still up in the air on nose art, so will wait 'til something really turns my crank.
The body looks great. Did your painter do the pin striping on the body along with the lettering? Real nice old school look.
Well, Kiddies, The hobby funds took a hit that'll keep me from going to the August ANRA meet. Should be back up early September, so the rest of the calendar's still standing. Bummer, too, the Brick's ready as hell. (What, no "angst" smiley? ) Even tested'er out a bit on a back street of Pasadena. Wasn't caught, though (No harm, no foul, right? ).
Well Dick, sorry to hear that. Hope every thing is good for Eagle Field & the ANRA Finals in Oct. Did you take the car to the scales yet?
Yeah, just a temporary set-back. The rest of the year still looks OK, including the second Barona "Antique Nat's". Also plan to try out the new 'Dale on a regular night. I'd planned to take'er up to Scholl Canyon Dump this week, but may as well wait for a bit cooler temps since August's screwed anyway.
Hang in there buddy, life is full of the unexpected. Had a few delays along the way with our build (surviving comes to mind), but it will all come together when the stars line up.
Howdy Kiddies, Well, it looks like the hobby funds're nearly back on track. Next stop, Barona on the 23rd, for their second Antique Nat's of the year. Then it's up to Rocky's show on Oct 6th, and finish out the year at Bako for Butch's closer on the 12th. I finally got tired of effing around with the Spec clutch, and re-engineered it as a full floater. Should eliminate the slipping against the flywheel problem on hard shut-downs, and the resultant connection strap damages (that they assured me was impossible ...... all 3 times ). Also finally knocked the nose art options down to two possibles. I'll post up a sketch when I get off the fence on these two. See ya in a few weeks, Smoky (aka Rocky).
Well Dick it will be interesting to hear how the clutch works with your mods. Sounds like your going to be busy for the next few months. I hope to make it to Eagle Field for my first passes. I might be incorrect, but I think you meant Oct 6th Eagle field and Oct 12-13 for ANRA or maybe you rented both strips for high level "Test & Tune" in Nov Good luck in Barona, more passes less talk this time (I know it's hard with a hot rod like yours).
You mean he had another Birthday.. So Did I. the 3rd.. I didn't know that.. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Dick.......
Oopth, corrected. Would've been tacky to show up a month late, eh? I'll hold you to that Eagle Field mark, you'll owe me if'n ya don't show. Yeah, 7/15 each year. Hey Dick, does that make us senior Dicks, or are we still just Senor Dicks? 'Deed it does, Sir. 'Deed it does.
A Dick by any other name....... Sorry, the devil made me do it, I couldn't resist. You're only as old as you feel, so that must make me about 113!
Well, I have the Brick all back together, and drove'er up on the trailer. 'Course I had to do a short street test of the clutch. Seems to be working as intended, and should get me through the end of the season. I'll tear'er down after the Parade, and see how it went. We hauled'er up to Scholl Caynon Dump's scales and were pleasantly surprised with a .71 ton reading. That's 1420 lbs, a significant drop from the last weigh-in there @ .80 (1600). Frankly my dear, I'm thinking the previous reading may've been off, for whatever reason, there at the scales. I doubt I've carved 180 out of'er, and the auld Barn Job hadn't gone all that far over it's original 1430 when I added the cooling system. Anyway, we're ready for Barona's 2nd semi-annual Antique Nat's, and looking forward to the season's last ANRA & Eagle Field. Weigh-in pictures as soon as my buddy (64/440 {or fight?}) sends'em to me.
Well old6 1420# with the tub in place and a real nice cooling system would make any of us HAMBster's happy. Good luck at Barona, get a bunch of runs in. Will see you at Eagle Field.
I'm slow. Nah, the size of Tom's picture files kept me from posting'em 'til I reduced'em a bit. Here 'tis ..........
Well, Kiddies, getting ready to hit the bricks for Barona in an hour or so. I've remembered to pack the camera and a couple charged batteries, so maybe I'll remember to take some pictures (especially of the return road ). Other news ..... I may wind up going to the CHRR at famoso, That'd be four races in five weeks. Be cool, and enjoy your weekend.
