Does anyone know how to get tires mounted on wide 5 rims. The tire shops around here say they can't do it because the rims won't mount on the machine they have, no help.

Do you have a spare front brake drum? Knock out the internals and use that. I use an old circle track adapter.

Your local shops must have some really old center mount equipment. Later tire machines use rim grips and the center of the wheel matters not............until you get to the wheel balancer, that is :)

i use tire irons, soapy water on a rag to wipe the rim and tire edge, and baby powder on the innertube. old school baby, do it.

Thanks guys for the help. I found the speedway adapter but was unsure of how well it worked.

Ah yep, have one and have balance a dozan wheels with this adaptor. only problem with these is the bolt size and nut tapper, does the job though.

Dont think ****s is a problem with that.

  10. i did mein with a hand machine
extended the center pipe by slipping another over or inside
and sometimes used 5 in long bolts to space the adapter
think and adapt people we did this long ago and made it work:eek:
and now theres a lot beter equipment out there now:)

All due respect, and i mean that. I dont have abalance machine in my garage, so i have to take it to a shop. The shop i take it to has a wide varity of people that can get things done. But without the adaptor (like old vw rims) they are stuck on balance.
