Details. Today I tought to install the door but I decided to wait until I finish
the wiring harness



I installed also the rear shockwave and rear brake line







Latch panel with rechromed parts

Much more than 2 days Jim .
The u-joint that is installed on the rack&P is big and hits the crossmember.
I have to learn how to do, whether to buy another u-joint or ...... I do not know

I bought those same SS ujoints and had to return them. I didn't realize how huge they really are.

 

Exact Nicolas. I never imagined there were so big .
The rack&pinion should I install a joint 9/16-26 x 3/4"DD,
you have the same joint? What have you installed?

Also the U-joint which is to be connected to the column is enormous.
I was surprised when I saw it and then
I understood why they cost so much

I replaced them with weld on joints. They are much smaller. I also went with just a coupler on the rack instead of a ujoint. If you have three joints like me, you need a support bearing as close as possible to the middle ujoint.

I have three joints and I've also bought the bearing.
The system we've adopted you might be a good solution for me and thank you for having recommended to install as close to the middle u-joint.

I used a Sweet Mfg. 9/16"-26 to 3/4 round non-flex coupler. Othe companies make them too. They come in different configurations.

I just recently ran into the same issue with U-Joints. I took 65standard's advice and ordered from Sweet MFG as well. They came in yesterday and they seem great.

 

I still have not solved the problem, I can not return the parts that I bought and I have no autoparts available to go and take what I need.

Now it's the holiday season, think of doing this work in September

I'd definitely look into the straight coupler and see if you can't use some of what you already have. Looking great Frank, keep it up!
