Bonneville Speedweek is a Blast! It's so different from anything else. Crusing the pits you can watch the Rolling Bones changing out the gears in the quick change rear ends of their coupes and roadster if they think they can improve on the prior run. Or your can watch people or look at details of rods. Lots of people there this year, but some problems with the salt being rough in places. I think one of the first cars on Saturday ran into problems at the end of the track.. From where I was watching it looked pretty bad. Haven't heard details of that 'cause didn't have a radio with.

Yep, thats the new one outta the Rolling Bones shop.
Believe it has a wicked 241 Hemi, 3 '97s, Offy intake, and a Vertex Mag.
That thing has some serious rare parts on it.
Yeah Keith, Ken,and Dave crank out some sweet rides!

The sedan top insert is a real piece of art seen from above. Seen from below, I wonder what it's like driving in the rain, though:

I got back this afternoon and still feeling pretty buzzed from the sun and salt. Just as awesome this year, it keeps getting better. More people, hot rods, and cool people. Yeah, the salt was bumpier in some areas than last year but it didn't stopped us charging it at 100 mph...my battiers went dead to the camera, so no pix from the salt from me this year.

Yes, the Hop Up crew was right next to the Rolling Bones in the Pits. Looked like they were sharing tents, tools and labor.

Every year when the pictures of Speed Week come out I say OK...I'm starting a salt car this year. 35 years and it aint happend yet...but I think I found a way to get there...talk a friend into building a car.

The cool thing about Speed Week that I have noticed is that no matter what year it is...it always looks like 1958. You make all the pictures black and white and it would be hard as hell to tell one year from the other.

I heard that the lake had surfaced and was covering most of the bed. I never heard if it receeded and what effect it would have on the salt...I heard it would not be good this year.

Guys the salt wasn't good........ Top speed was 301 we couldn't do better than 280's.....AND the salt was wierd! It stuck to everything bigtime! Most everyone looked like they were snowed on.

That's RACING you gotta run with what you get.

More and more the guys just driving round move the look of the place earlier and eariler I like that...... Wish some could understand that there's a real race going on and give towin'/pushin cars a break but most do thank you

We'll be back in Sept and Oct if the lake bed dries out enough to run.....That's what we do.
