  1. I am interested in your diagram and any other info on your OD conversion. Thanx Dave

I've done a lot with the Borg-Warner T85, T86, T96 trannies with the R10 and R11 overdrives in Studebakers, but that Ford unit is one of the strangest looking conglomerations I've ever seen. Evidently, it worked for a while, anyway.

Agree, overdrive is the way to go in a classic build. As mentioned, set it up with a pushbutton kickdown and go have fun.

I think main idea in that pic is to get the solenoid out of the way...the Lincoln trans puts it in its normal location right through stuff like the pedal pivots on a Ford.

I've got a BW OD welded into the torque tube on my '37 Chevy coupe that's lever operated. The only two caveats are that 1) you have to come to a complete stop to take it out of overdrive and 2) you've got to remember to take it out of overdrive before shifting into reverse.

The unit's been installed for close to 15 years and I've travelled thousnds of miles with it without a problem.

I am getting ready to install a Lincoln r10 overdrive in my 40 Ford I have one that was removed from another 40
How did you mount the transmission to the frame?
I believe the one it came out of had the top piece of the x member removed and drilled the bottom

I'm not familiar with the frame in a 40, but I installed a BW od in my 41 Ford. My trans came from a 50 Merc I was told. If you think it will help ya I'll post some pics
