  2. I'm going to go the other way and say no to fenders and run a chopped 32 grill with a chopped insert I'm pretty sure Dan fink does them I think they look *****in that is what I'm going with my model a coupe I have nothing against people using fenders I just choose not to but as seen in the photos in this thread can can look very nice

Nice thing is that he has them. Maybe build the car cleanly, paint and detail everything, as though you weren't going to use them...
Then put 'em on. And take 'em back off, if you 'feel the need'...
That's how we got fenderless cars in the first place! (at the lakes)

Get to the lakes, pull the windshield, fenders, running boards, headlights...Race...

Then return to the pits, put everything back on, and drive home (usually to the L.A. basin)
Wasn't too long that guys weren't puttin' 'em on any more, just ran 'stripped'.
Wasn't any time at all that the L.A.P.D. cracked down on these 'hot rods', either.
    History.

I know, old thread, but theres another alternative that never even got mentioned, bobbed stockers on the back, no running boards, and cycle fenders on the front. And a deuce grill shell needs to be chopped to look good on a model A regardless of what ch***is its on.

I went fenderless but I like them both ways. Know in advance that if you go fenderless, you are really prone to paint chips. I didn't think it would bother me until I got one. Mine's a 30 on a 32 frame with a 32 grill shell. We did not have to recess the firewall to fit the 283 in it.

I don't know it all but feel free to ask any questions you might have. Check my build album for more details. Good luck with your choice. Nice part is you can't make a wrong decision!!

After going back and forth about fenders or no fenders, after looking at thousands of pictures of cars with and with out, I took different aspects of each different car and brought togethr a car with my own personal touches that I think will be an awesome ride. This is my first car I have ever built and solely owned. I have got alot of help from my family and friends on building the car. If i didnt have their help I probably wouldnt have went as far as i did on the car when it comes to the details and fenders. My Father in law helped with all the body work and fenders and did a awesome job, with out him i wouldnt have ran fenders because I wouldnt have bought new ones. Also I chose a 29 grill shell with a stock hood top with louvers. I am adding pictures of the fenders and a link to a current build thread i started a while back if you want to check it out.

  10. Here's what i did, build it with fenders that unbolt. The rear fenders are bolted to the rear end and the front bolted to the backing plates. When i run the fenders i run WW Diamondback radials on wires.
When i run it fenderless i use WW Firestone cheater slicks & bias ply fronts on Radars.
I have found that the general public like the look of the fenders on the '27 saying it looks more like a finished car.
Myself & hot rodders like the fenderless bad a#$ look!
It kinda cool because just when you get bored with the look of the car, you can change it up!
