Guy i was wondering what kind of hot glue sticks the PDR (painless dent removal) guys use. My daily has a few nasty's that the local guy honestly told me they could be done but too $$$ for him to do, honest guy! wanting to do this on minimum budget and damm might even learn something in the process. anyone with feedback about this or procedure bring it on! thanks.:D

You will only go so far with a "glue stick" style of repairing dents.
"Paintless" guys use much more specialized tools and rely on experience and a sharp eye to get a quality job.

Be careful you don't do anything to the panel that might lock damage in place and then require actual body work/paint to complete the job.

  3. I'm no expert for sure, but all the pdr work that was done at the bodyshop I used to manage had to be done from the backside of the dent.

PDR guys generally use glue sticks when there is no access behind the dent.

Or drill access holes and insert a rubber plug when they are done. PDR work is usually done from the rear with tools like these:

it takes an incredible amount of patience, and believe it or not, there is use for everyone of those tools. The glue pulling systems are really only for dents that would pop out with hand pressure on the backside

All these responses make sense, i have a ot vehicle and it has no rear access and i was thinking about cutting holes and plugging them afterwards. Having watched a few videos using glue and pullers i figured can't hurt to try it on my own vehicle and didn't feel like spending more on supplies than was needed. anyone know what type of glue they use? Some type of low temp would be my guess and making a pulling jig would be simple matter using wood and it it breaks use it again to start a fire.

Our pdr guy has used a red glue stick before. Heats the end, sticks it on the dent, pulls hard and finishes with knock down tools.

I have used hot glue from lowes, home depot, and even craft stores. Depending on the size of the dent and where the dent is on your car will determine how good the glue works. Dents near a body line will be more difficult as the change in the panels flatness makes the area stonger..Kinda like putting beads in floor panels for strength. When you say dent i am ***ume you mean door dings. TIMING is key! give the glue just enough time to cure but dont let it sit for too long, depending on your paint, it could pull your paint off with the stud. Use denatured alcohol to release the residue from the panel. Then knock down any high spots with a nylon punch and a small hammer. hope this helps. Chris

I must admit I have seen these painless dent removal guys do some amazing things with dents.

I had a friend and some how his creeper fell over and hit the door of his brand new car and put a nice dent into it.

This guy came out with all those crazy shaped tools and removed the dent completely from the door.

We watched him do it and I can tell you the door looks perfect!!!

Where do these guys go to learn how to do this stuff with all those crazy shaped tools?

Between the glue and using dry compressed air to pop the dents out they really have some pretty cool tricks up their sleeves.

When I worked at a body shop we would call in one of these guys for some dents because it was just more cost effective than having our shop do them. They would not even let our guys watch them work to protect their "secrets" and we would either put them back out of the way to work or else they would put d****s around the car and work hidden from view.

When they were done it was as if the dent was never there and the paint was still perfect. Neat service they provide.
