I am curious about the Beatnicks club.I have seen some of thier cars at the Rumble in Ct and in mags but never an article on the club as a whole.I have heard rumours you need to be a Hells angel or have a certain amount of tattoos. Are there any members in New England or on the HAMB?Maybe this is top secret info?Any one have pics of their cars?I never get tired of McPhails chevy(love his art too!)
We have a good friend who's a Beatnick. He's about an hour east of us in NY. Also another friend who's a prospect located about 90 mile's north of NYC There was some stuff that had to be met in order to become one from what i was told. Tats are a part of it. I thought he said something about having 24 hours of ink..can't remember. I have pics of my buddy's chevy, but i can't get them on here.. Sorry Don't know many of them, but the one's i do know i call true freinds! We went to a open house party at a Custom shop in Kingston last year durring the Rhinebeck show and hung out with the two i mentioned, and met Steve Bonge (sorry if i didn't spell that right) and a bunch of other members... Frank Ingrao's shoebox custom does KILLER smokeshow's! Haha
Yup-- we did a whole issue (GARAGE #6) dedicated to Beatniks as a whole and how the whole movement relates to The Hot Rod Way Of Life. The Beatniks is one of our favorite clubs and it's full of some of the best guys (and gal) you'll ever meet. Some of the more notables who've worn the Royal Purple (in no particular order): Von Franco McPhail Steve Bonge Rob Fortier Jack Rudy Het Brian Everett Rick Dore Big George and many others I've met and had the pleasure of hangin' with. To set the record straight, there's no direct link between any other club and The Beatniks. Tattoos and an ibbidy bibbidy are part of the club, but that's all I'll say. These guys are from all over the country (and world) and if you see that purple shirt at a show or wherever, take an extra minute, walk up and say hi. You'll be glad you did. STONER
huh, i thought they all were artists. but i guess being into hot rods makes everyone some kind of artist.
It dosent matter how many tattoos or how good of art you do, you wont be a Beatnick unless they ask you anyway. And I agree with Stoner the few I have met were super nice folks.
Im getting married to a Beatnik in Nov. at Vegas. We are from Australia so am looking foward to meeting more of them. And the Hells Angel's have nothing to do with the club. U cant miss them at shows cause who else wears purple shirts.
i wear purple...hmmmm? oh, and congratulations on the wedding... my wife and i did the vegas wedding couple o' years back...still going strong. nic
Well i'm marrying one, i''m not one and i dont know all of them so dont know. some of the ones here in Australia are in the Rebels. I ment that Beatniks aren't part of the Hells, they are there own Club.
The Beatniks are a bunch a cool ass guys. I know McPhail and Big Mark real well. In salina ks at the KKOA deal I spent alot time hangin with'em.
The Men in Purple are some of the best people in the world. That's the key to being part of the club.
I agree. McPhail was the featured artist at last years Pistons and Paint show and he is great. As far as Big Mark goes I love hime enough that he was in my wedding. "So if any wants to see Big Mark in a monkey suit just let me know" And in the words of Mark, "Fire is bad Jack!"
all the beatnicks ive meet are a great bunch of guys if you ever get a chance to talk one of them do. all of them ive met through mcphail and their the were all nice
Great Group Of Guys ...ive Been Friends With Many For Over 10 Years ..and Ive Shown Alot Of Respect To Them.... And Now A Prospect ..some Are Artist...some Build Cars...some Are Bikers..some Are Famous...they Are All Way Cool ...like A Family... Oh Ya..and By The Way ...its "beatniks"....not Beatnicks... Its Beatniks Not Beatnicks..
I have yet to meet one who's a dick (well maybe RF ). I wish more would make the trek to Billetproof. While I've only met him a couple of times, I think Steve Bonge is cool. I really dig his photography.
IM THINKIN ABOUT TRYIN TO MAKE IT OUT TO BILLET PROOOF.. SEE IF BIG GEORGE IS GONNA GO ? ITS THE SAME WKND AS INKSLINGERS THIS YEAR IS THE BAD THING FOR SOME PEOPLE..
They are all artist is one way or another Music, Painting, Building, Tattooing.. it's all a form of art. I've met a bunch of beatniks and they all have been really cool.. The Piz is a Beatnik.
Met a bunch like Pizz, VF, RF, Hetfield, Rudy, Prospect "POCKET" too. Always open and kool to talk to. KNUX!
Not sure of the requirements - but knowing a beatnik and hanging with other beatniks that I have had the pleasure to meet, has always been a great time.
