I can't believe I just read a post on how to build a door. FROM SCRATCH. And people tell me I spend too much time reading. This is why I come back. LOL. Great tech. There are some seriously talented people here.

 

So how many hours are invested in this door? Great work. The craftsmenship on this site is simply amazing.

I have about 30 hours or so in it, but the next one will usually go faster.
Also less than $100 material. I bought a 4x10 sheet of 18 gauge for $65, you will have a 3x4 left over and the rest is sanding disc,grinder rock,welding gas,wire, etc.

Thanks for the compliments guys.I hope you can use something from this thread. If i slide the top wheel out closer to the end of the shaft i can go close to 80-90 in two passes, but i'm on the edge of the rubber wheel.

How did you go about making the wood hammer form? Water type of wood? Was a router used? what size? Thanks

 

Just about any wood will work for one door. I used pine and oak on mine.I rough cut mine with a sawzall and sanded it with a 4 1/2" and 9" grinder with a sanding disc on them.It does not have to be smooth or perfect, just get as close as you can to the general shape.I think a router would work good (i don't have one to try).
