So ive been itching to start tearing things apart on my t-bucket. Ive got a few leaks i want to fix, and rework alot of the fuel lines and transmission cooler lines. As well as rewiring the whole car. When i put the car together back in 2006-7 it was a first build and some things were done quickly instead of thinking them out a little more thoroughly. So this weekend, i decided to start taking things apart. Went thru and disconnected everything from the body and lifted that off. Fuse box was attached to the body and i would like to have a place on the chassis for this to keep most of the wires run on the chassis. So sitting there without the body on i began thinking of the old speedsters. Since i have a ton of plywood sitting around i rough mocked up a seat similar to the size of one of those Kirkey Vintage buckets. Clamped a model t firewall and cowl to the frame and made a quick hood and sides out of chipboard. Kinda like the look of it. Would make for a lot of fun. Could also take the cowl off and make a larger cowl and low sides. Probably would have to have two seats or the fiance might get mad. Still unsure and since it hasn't cost me anything to mock this up, im not too worried about it. Still gotta do all the other reworking and cleaning up anyways. Just thoughts from boredom and lack of money to buy parts.
How about option 1 with exhaust inside/down and back and the hood. A whole different look for no money.
Yeah a change in headers would make a world of diffrence. & maybe the hood with the old body. But that being said I like speedsters too but the late v8 doesnt quite jive
Ive been thinking about that alot lately. Been wanting to tone down the exhaust. And after i get the mess of wires and lines cleaned up it should be possible. My main goal before the spring it to clean up lines, wiring, fix rear diff leak and get the body back on. Probably make a few small changes to the dash, move alternator lower, maybe some other small things.
Hey Fast Eddie, I agree with the captain, it's a good looking little roadster but speedsters are really cool, so that sounds like a great idea. As you say, if you design things right (like with the fuse box, etc), perhaps you can set it up so you can switch bodies when you feel like it (though I guess you wouldn't do that too often). Your mock-up looks good, but something with more of a lakes feel to it would look good (well, better to me, but you are asking for opinions, and I've got a million of them) Good luck with it.
