Found this with a buddy of mine earlier this year and just snagged it yesterday. Looks like a 1962 Futura body on a 1938 Ford frame. Was ran on the local South Jersey paved and dirt tracks in the late 1960's to early 1970's. Has a 1957 312 that is worked .030 with a solid cam and has Thomas M8 magnesium rockers and Thunderbird covers. Also has Culver City 201 Halibrand rear end with wide 5 hubs. Aluminum flywheel with Offenhauser adapter. Check out what was used as the rear bumper as well. Car is very rough from sitting in the elements so long. Its not a 32 3 window, but I had to share.

Aw! This is awesome! What is the list number of that carb? Can you post some shots of the interior and electrical? The fuel tank? I dig looking at this survivor.

Great Hot Rod drivetrain! I'd be lookin to drop that 312 and Halibrand into a Model A, etc.

That early axle bumper is looking very "Ratroddish". Might start a trend with that camp.

Off the charts. Love the old slicks. Would make a great historical piece with a 38 body back on it.

I wouldn't call this a survivor. The elements have took their toll on this poor thing. There isn't any wiring or gauges in it anywhere. The carburetor list number is 1273-1 (I believe when I glanced at it). Fuel tank looks to be a 20 gallon drum. I'll take some more photos in the morning and post them up.

This thing is pretty rough. Frame is completely rotted out in 4 different places. Parts of the frame and suspension actually broke while pulling it up on the trailer. I just drained a few quarts of water out of the oil pan as well. The a pillars are rotted away from the rest of the body. This one will be parted out to help complete a few other hot rod projects out there that I am sure need something off of this.

I bet this is the first ti,e that the car has been on a trailer. Cool Tow Bar. I have seen quite a few old race cars with a axle for a bumper. they had plenty because they used a lot. As I recall about 69 or 70 time frame a lot of the North East tracks wanted to do away with the old bodys . The reason was they wanted the fans to identify with the cars. plus the old iron was getting hard to find. Nice find even if just for the parts.

First time I looked at the car the owner told me he ran a dirt track. Next time I asked where it was raced he said it was a paved track. It may have been raced at both? Not sure.

    Cool find for sure.

What are your plans for the car?

Did you purchase it to restore it and race it in vintage races?

I wonder what gear is in it and that might also lead you to where they races it.

    Really nice Jimbo

I'll start the bidding For the quick change @ $50. I mean just look at that thing, all nasty and painted and old.

Seriously, PM me if you want to sell it.

  26. Such a score! Bet it was exiting the first time you looked it over.

Here is a picture of the fuel tank and interior that someone requested. The seat looks to be 1973-1974 Camaro or Firebird. Funny that there is no gauges for this thing anywhere.

So cool! This thing would be the nuts at Latimore. I'd just put it back in running condition and leave the rest as a survivor, (almost).

    Great find!
