I'm new to rodding. I've been rebuilding Ford Model A's. I have decided to build a modernized 31 Model A Pickup . I bought a 94 Mustang with the 3.8 V6 and 5spd. If I put the engine and tranny in the Model A can I just take the computer and engine wiring from the Mustang and plug it back together in my truck frame and it will run fine? I have read articles that say "yes" and I've read some that say the engine won't run right in the Model A, but will run. And finally that it won't run at all. Which is true?
I thought I would just get a manifold and carb, and distributor, but in my opinion is too expensive. What and how can I get this engine to work in my Model A?

All due respect, this is not the correct forum for modernizing or computerizing old cars.

The question is not "will this engine run in a traditional Model A" but, rather, "should this engine be run in a traditional Model A. Here on the HAMB, that answer is NO.

  4. Done properly, it will work just fine.
    It should not be done.

  6. Go with a "traditional" carburetor.

    You'll thank me later!

Don't ruin the Model A and don't tell us if you do.

  8. Ha Ha, that's good!

Another version of "Don't ask - Don't tell"!

Dont want to further inflame the Trad Police, but to answer some of your question, heres my roadster with a 2.3Turbo/EFI/5speed power train. All of it is controlled by the stock Ford EEC III system. Took some time to link all together, but it works. I get 22.8MPG,runs 8#'s boost, goes like stink, all on regular gas.
May not be traditional, but I put a lotta time in building this car...to me it's a Hotrod..
