Just got back from the Hotrod Hayride weekender What a blast great weekend On a down side my roadster was too low for the hillclimb at Brooklands and the marshals wouldn't let me have a go But it was great watching the others go.
Ha, that didn't take long! Brilliant. Thats all that needs to be said as well as a huge thank you to all that came.
Great show! I think you'll need a larger venue next year! Got in late Sat, so missed the hill climbs, but had a blast - thanks! Of course, I forgot my camera again!
Just like to say a big thank you for the Hotrod Hayride. Had a fanatastic time, really enjoyed it especially Brooklands (that was icing on the cake). Only downside was being in an open top roadster with no windscreen, son's hat, Taildraggins sunglasses and Bandana for a 4 hour drive there and wasn't much fun when it rained (felt like being pelted with ball bearings ) oh yea and i managed to lose son's hat somewhere on M4 after Reading services . but hey it's the little things like this that make you enjoy it..... Hope you do it again next year. Daisyduke
Only made it up to brooklands for the saturday but saw the coolest gathering of traditional hot rods I've ever seen in the UK!!! Brooklands is a really cool museum as well, check it out - http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/ There's some seriously cool traditional cars in England these days with more and more steel turning up, just keeps getting better! Still need more customs though!! What a day to forget the camera, post some more pictures people!
we caused a bit of a traffic jam when a mates caddie lost all his coolant when a hose came off on the way out
Got things SO wrong what with being flat broke. Better start saving for next year. Still, I found the time to swap one shot waterpump for a new one, and the other leaking one for... another leaking one. Doh! Glad you all had a good time, hope I'm there for the even better one next time?!
were my ol friends WICKSY and MATT FROM SOUTHEND there? if so tell em axle and sinus from the shifters says hello!
There's a few I took in this thread before the new headers were fitted, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57344
Got to agree, what an event. I reckon, there will be loads more like that coming up. I think i counted right 9 bands and cool music all weekend. Everyone seemed high on the event. There was a buzz just everywhere. Cheers to all the guys that arranged it. And great to see all the guys and gals there too. Cheers Roland
the hill climb... it was to cool, the Exicutioners rule !! and Jerry wel done I had a great weekend thanks for spinning the wax and the bands ! Cheers, Angelo
Now the event is over I can post the pictures of the Trophys. They were done by my dad who wasn't actually at the event due to being on holiday in Florida. Best Kustom. Best Rod. Thats REAL gold plating. Fastest on the Hillclimb. You also had participants choice, which was the skull painted by the PaintBox and striped by Neil Meillard.
Was a totally fantastic weekend , didn't want to go home ! The Test Hill was the high point for me , was incredible to give Doris a thrash up the same track that was used by the founders of motor sports in the UK , and after you'd driven the the hill the return route took in 500yards of the banked oval . Thought I'd died and gone to heaven ! Seriously thinking of saving my cash by not doing anymore shows til next years Hayride , and spending it on building something real special for the one weekend , it was that good . Huge thanks to all who made it happen , you are complete stars all of you PS Flatoz , click this link for more on that lovely blue pick-up http://www.ruffrodders.com/cgi-bin/ib/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=70;t=1289
