I removed the water pumps on my 1950 ford to send to skip to rebuild, I did not block the engine and when I removed the pumps the front engine mounts expanded up, I am now unable to get the pumps back on and cannot get the engine to come up at all with a jack lightly raising at the pan, I even tried today to loosen the trans mount and the engine just wont budge. I am new to this ford and a flat head and at this time just screwed, any suggestions would be great since I am now kinda out of ideas. THANKS
Scott, what happens when you try jacking the engine from the pan, doesn't move? If you use a block of wood right on the front edge (near the corners) you can spread the weight a bit better and prevent crushing the pan. -S
Ive tried that it does not budge, it startes lifting the car, thats whats got me so confused and frustrated.
how did you get the water pumps off without supporting the engine? you are going to need the lift it from as close to the front of the engine as you can. the mounts are a pain to line up as well. you can loosen the mounts through an access hole in the frame, that makes everything a little easier.
Ive tried to lift from as close to the front as I can and the engine doesnt budge, I am truly amazed at either the weight of this motor or just my stupity, this has had me stumped now for two week, anyone want to buy a nice 50 2dr.
