Talked to another guy about this show today (9/11). Man.....all I can say is that was one of the best local shows Ive been too in a long time! Price was right and loads of fun. Great cars and racing.

  4. After having had a couple days to let sink in what we all experienced on Saturday, I think it is safe to say that this years race was even better than last year. Probably not as many p***es as last year, but the cars that raced this year were awesome.
A huge thank you to John and his staff for an outstanding event. To coordinate such a huge event with as few issues as there were was truly amazing to witness. Another thank you should be directed to the people that posted such high quality photos, I myself found several outstanding photos of my 55 that were posted and for that i am grateful.
Such a great event will stay with us for some time ,and come to us in little bits and pieces of what we saw and experienced. I was lucky to share it with my family and had a really funny thing happen. My grandson Nathan loves to sit in the car with me when i move up in the staging lanes and goes with his Dad when it is my turn to race. I also share driving the car with my son Isaac, although I get more p***es it only seems fair to me. While my grandson was riding with me he asked what the knobs on the tachometer were for and I told him that they made the car go faster, as it was my turn to race I let my son take Nathan and off I went for my final p***. It launched perfectly and I knew that i was going to make another nice p*** that is until the engine started to misfire, I took my foot off the throttle so as not to hurt anything and that is when I noticed that the rev limiter on the Tachometer was turned down to 4200 RPMS, my little crew chief had turned it down when we were in the staging lanes!
We all had a good chuckle over it and it is one of the little bits and pieces of that special day that will keep returning to me. I hope to meet some of you at the Alter Boys Show on Saturday. This forum is great and your posts are wonderful. Thanks MOE orange dragstrip 2012 042.jpg

Sounds like someone needs to make an event only open to pre 1960 cars. That'll keep out the riff raff.

Awesome day spent watching drags like the old days,up close and where the action is. Car show side was spectacular too. Walked around for several hours looking at rods and especially looking for HAMB owned rods. I might have missed them but I didn't see one single HAMB decal or firewall tag or Tee shirt, cap or any Identification of any kind on any car.
I recognise some cars from avatar pictures, but I'm sure many many HAMBers were there and I would have liked to have met some of you.
The only ID I saw was on my own truck,a decal in the rear window,
Many thanks to John @ John's custom rods and all his helpers for a great job again.

  11. I usually wear a HAMB shirt at these events, just didn't this time. There's a lot of cars that were there that should be on this site but aren't. The two guys I rode up with both have awesome period cars, but never heard of the site

Anyways, now that the day has soaked in, all I can think about is building a 300 ft. car for next year...
