I've got four Pirellis that I bought in '88 that still have ***S on them. They'll never roll on a car of mine again...garage-rollers at best! DD
Ten grand will buy a lot of nice drivers that aren't the belly****ons every numbnuts thinks he wants. I saw a nice driving decent looking '41 Ford Tudor with a pro-installed 350" SBC 2-bbl and TH350 go for way less than $10k. It was a turnkey car, just not one everyone wants. No bling, just a drive-all-summer-long reacher. Ten grand won't buy anything worth having if one doesn't know how to shop, how to bargain, how to evaluate and most of all, how to keep at it until the deal comes along. Bottom line - a Zen saying, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." jack vines
"A fast nickel is better than a slow dime" I feel like if you had 10k all at once to get a project and the necessary bits it stays better organized and more focused helping you bring it in at that budget. If you plan to spend 10k over 5 years it turns into 20.
What does 10 grand get you ? Or what did 10 grand get me? 2 Henry J's, a 50 Ford Coupe and a 66 GMC. Yes all four for less than $10,000. You have to treat it like a job and work for getting a nice ride. Ten grand in Cali gets you a lot of car and with what's left you can have anything shipped to you. Look on craigslist here if something is close I'll go look at it for you if you are really serious on buying.
Hotrodderhaag, What has happened is he has 2 guys on the hook. Me being the trade!! Our deal was suppose to be final Sunday, with a 7 hour trip this coming up Sunday to pick up the car. I think if you wait you might find you will get the car for what he was originally asking for it, because I'm not playing any games!!!! If the dude would of told me " hey i got a cash deal working ill let you know thursday" that would of been fine...
$12K will get you an older Model A restoration, but $3k wont get you much. I know where this coupe is for $7k....
I would say screw the guy if he's ****ing around and already has it sold and is just trying to get more money. You never know he might even have others in line. There are plenty still out there. From what I read every car is a barn find now. I think you can find a better deal from a more honest person.
Umm really, no it's not. It didn't go for around anything. Except to a ford show last sunday where it took 3rd place in the ratrod division hahahahahehehehehehheh speedy rat almost choked on his Taiwanese model 97 The car is Korys'. A Cheaters club member. We let him know it should be sold to club members first. A good friend of his put that price on it when he wasn't looking because ....well We were clowning Kory because he has attention issues. That car was a club build back in 99 or 2000 and he has an itch for motorcycles. He always has .... they take up less space and are easier to build. That and his jd motor for his dirt track racer isn't a cheap date. Rome
This restored A sedan sold for $7000 Canadian at a local auction in June. The coupe next to it brought $12,100.
You could build such a bad*** little hot rod for way under 10k. Hell, I don't think I have much more than that in my coupe. Of you went to a few swap meets and kept away from chrome and keep it simple it's way doable. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
2000 miles for a runnin A PU sounds like the perfect road trip to me. I can think of 100 different ways to make that deal, but I already got one.
Damn, where are you finding these? I've looked across the state and even neighboring states an have yet to find a coupe or even a sedan for around 5k.
this car has been out there for a while... the guy offered me a straight up trade back in april for the sport coupe i had for sale at the time. he sent me tons of info/pics and while i thought it wasn't bad, i personally thought it was a little much as i valued my sport coupe at around 10k. if i would of taken the trade, i thought i would of needed this car and and 3k+ in cash. To answer your original question... 10 grand can go a long way if your smart and willing to wait. About 4 years ago I built a bare bones t-bucket, I couldn't do everything myself so some of the fab work I had to pay to have done... with that being said I spent well over 10 to get it finished and on the road. Ended up having more in the car than what it was actually worth. I think where I'm going with this is, just shop around. I am constantly on the search for that next new toy and it is amazing what is still out there.... you just have to be at the right place, at the right time, with the right amount of money! I know I always used to think that I just found the greatest deal ever and would never come across another one like it.... and then BAM, here it comes! This summer alone, I can honestly say I have probably seen 3 or 4 cars that are KILLER deals, not just good/decent buys. - 47 Ford Coupe - running/driving original 60's Hot Rod with Flatty - sold for 5 grand - 64 Galaxie - BBF 390 - awesome shape, runs and drives daily - needs buffed - $4500 - 58 Belair 2 Door Sedan - runs/drive - 283/3speed, perfect Texas car, 28k miles, $3500
Enough work it'd build a ridler car, but it might take 80 years and a kill you first.... it's all about how much you want to do yourself
****...... that car is ten grand? Look up on ebay, type 1931 ford, go to the left click cars in the category section, then go to the left and down and click completed listings. Monday I sold the black coupe for $8700. Not perfect by any means, but look at the Damn pictures. That car your looking at is worth $6500 on a good day that's if ran and drove.
Hey you got 3 dollars more than I do. Wanna pool funds and go to mickey Ds for a burger. I'll let you have the first bite. Pretty funny when you think about it. One of the local fellas, about a year ago give or take sold an A coupe body for around a grand and he made money on it, all he wanterd was the ch***is to put under his T coupe. The A had a very old mild chop and was still wearing a real nice coating of black lacquer.
the roof is what really turned me off on it too... from past experiences, i must say that it is alot easier to do something right the first time, rather than to do it twice because of someone else's mistake or your own screw up.
I have a great idea, This is how you can see what 10 grand can do.. send the 10 grand to me, and I'll spend it on my hot rod, and than post the pictures up here for you to see what your 10 grand could do PM me for rules(haha like as if there are any) and where to send the cash
CJ; read the hamb cl***ifieds once in a while Here are 2 that I had on here for sale; The sedan was a driver, and did not sell here for 4200, it sold on The Ford Barn for 4150. I had many folks there PM me saying I had it way too low, but it took a while to find a new owner. Was selling for my friends estate, not my car. They asked me to price it low enough to move it quickly.... I thought at 4200, it would be gone in a one or two day sale....NOT The other one was a coupe with most all the parts including a spare mint painted/blasted frame. I had it on hamb for 3500, no sale until I accepted 3000 from a hamber. Can't find the pic of the entire car trailer deck covered with tons of A parts that went with it. That early 28 AR RHD phaeton came out of Cal for 3500 plus 1k shipping, not mine!
