Don't know if maybe this should be in the cl***ifieds, but I'm looking for a way (other than driving there myself) to get a 34 ford cab from outside Rockford to socal or thereabouts. I could drive as far as Vegas to get it, but that's about it. I'm new but I've seen posts mentioning "BenD" as a source for transpo. Willing to pay to get it here, of course. I'm just trying to determine if it's worth it. It's a 34 cab with new floor, no rust, blasted, gl*** intact, wheel, column, steering box all in place. Looks really clean, and guy wants $1200. Seems like a deal to me, but what do I know? Any info you can provide would be great.... Josh
WTF I live in Rockford Il and I never saw a 34 cab for sale. You could have a freight company ship it for you.
wish I saw this earlier, I am heading to vegas tomorrow with a trailer. I am south of rockford, but most of my family is up there. Good luck man, and if you dont get it let me know, I might pick her up.
Ah, that's a bummer... I'm gonna get it for sure, it's just a matter of how to get it here. Seller can hang onto it indefinitely, so I can wait till I find a shipper. Any thoughts on freight companies to call? Major ones like UPS do stuff like this? I have no experience with shipping stuff like this so I'm totally in the dark on this one.
I take it your buying a cab that currently is in So California and you want it brought to you in Rockford IL. Right? OOPS maybe I'm messed up? If your buying a cab from IL to take to california, I suspect your going to be a little unhappy. Something "Rust Free" in northern IL would be almost junk to you Calli guys. Not always, but the odds are against you. I suggest you get a lot of real good pictures. Gotta have your directions right, so guys will know what you want. Gene
I put it in ***le of post... "Shipping 34 cab from Rockford, IL to San Diego" Is there another format I should use?
I edited my responce, sorry, There is a HAMB services listing else where on the board that has a listing of a couple of shippers that are HAMB members. Also, you may be better off listing this in the cl***ifieds. Sorry for my confusion. I'd want to check that northern IL cab over real good. "Almost Rust Free" in IL could be "almost junk" to you so Ca guys. Gene
No sweat on the mixup. Haha.... that's funny about the "rustfree" bit... I've seen over 15 photos of this thing, and he's for real. It's damn near rust free. Doors look perfect - close and latch as well. I'll check the services section - thanks!
Pay the extra money to a shipper to have the cab crated and then shipped via truck freight. It's not going to be cheap but it WILL be worth the extra effort. The cab shouldn't weigh too much but you really want to have it strapped down securely to a pallet with at least some stiff cardboard around it. You may also be able to find a moving company that is making a run from Great Lakes to San Diego...there's always a bunch of Navy folks moving out this way.
its to bad my buddys car doesnt have a hitch on it. we are going to san diego in early september......
**** is trying to buy 51rats plymouth and bring it to cali, you two should talk, maybe combine something.
dude, buy a harbour frieght trailer for $300, tag it $50, and add $550 in gas expenses and do a road trip bring it home yourself for $900. that's less than a shipping deal and you get a nice scenic trip and trailer out of the deal. go for it dude!
