go bags if you really want it low and usable. yruthfully, I don't thinks bad at the height in the pics
lower it till it hits then raise 1" Seriously though as said before you look to be just fine as long as nothing is riding on its snubbers and such. I've found its not how low can you go but how you intend to drive them.
I like it where its at. Looks 1/2 way usable now. Start doing crazy stuff you'll loose your bed to C notches, tanks , compressors. That phhifft phhifft is kinda silly but I bet I could sell a bunch of bumper stickers to you guys. " You ain't shift without the phhifft "
Brad lol those are low pro compared to what was on it!! it had like 31 12.50s, i think want to get it pretty level and close the gaps alittle, i need to keep it drivable the wife drives it all the time and she is not good at driving something that she has to "think" about where she takes it!
I have plenty of low vehicles throughout the years. For normal driving you need about 4 inches minimum clearance. You will still need to be careful of driveways with high crown or speed bumps. Susp travel will be less, so big bumps mean bottom out.
Ha! I used to have a LWB 66 stepside with 31x10.50s on it. SOB sounded like a garbage truck going down the road! Ride height looks good now. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
My 2c: Drop spindles, cut stock springs to desired height. Replace the rear coils with bags. You can use a simple schraeder valve system in place of a compressor/tank if you want to do it cheap. Just use your shop compressor to air up in before you go out for a load of lumber. The long step is definitely unique..
I had that same ch***is under a 69 burb a few years ago. 2" drop springs in front with a coil cut off, 4" drop springs in the rear by Eaton DetroitSpring. Mine was a 3/4 ton, and it never bottommed out on the bumpstops but sat it down nice. I started with 6" drop 1/2 ton springs in the rear, but it pretty much rode the bumpstops. Devin
If you lower it very much your bumper isn't going to let you open the flip nose. I like them with the tire just barley tucked and they can be totally drivable. I have driven them low enough that you had to cross speed bumps sideways, but if you just barely tuck the tire with a 70 or 75 series tire you will still be able to drive it.
on my 56 Olds the lowest part was my lake pipes (they were live without any mufflers.) at 2 inches. drove it everywhere never s****ed anything but replacable side pipes
I'm with most of the crowd. It's already halfway drivable. Leave it that hight and make it drivable. But if ya want to take a lawn chair to a cruise in and watch people lookin at it, drop the ****er.
