OK you asked for it. You have a street rod lookin engine from the 80's, drag race pipes, old timey wire wheels, and a BIG moon tank. A lot of mixed styles, but all in all a pretty cool lookin car. I think the newer looking engine is the most out of place part for me though. I like the color too, but I'm afraid it is the street rod color of this era just like red dominated the 80's. To contradict myself though, I have been seriously considering painting my 50 Chevy truck 57 Chevy Sierra Gold, which is pretty similar to yours.

    Thanks for the compliments??
Just as a point of clarification...that is a '68 Vette motor, not an "80s street rod motor" and the tank is from Speedway baby. We can't all have flatties sitting around.

I stand by all of the design decisions we made on that car and would not agree that it is a mixing of styles. We wanted a car that looked like an old racer and that is what we have...

Maybe we should have painted it flat black with red wheels...but hindsight is always 20/20.

Well I dig it! I like the wire wheels on T's. I'd like to see a front shot of it, the stance is about perfect.

    Mmmmmmmmmm...hot rod.

  10. EVILT,in my book, the goal in building a gl*** T-bucket is to have something that looks distinctive from the umpteen zillion fad-Ts out there and to be pleasant to the eye. You've got a great looking ride.;)

You were eliciting comments and T McG was just giving you his honest impressions, but don't overlook the fact he said, "all in all a pretty cool lookin car."

I love the skinny wire wheels... and the quick change rear. Bet it's going to be a blast to drive.. at least it doesn't have a blower and 4 foot wide rubber in the back ;)

I love the color, interesting to see that there is hope for fad T's, I actually think the'yre kind cool, but not as cool as a 50's styled rod.

Thanks for the input. Here are some more pics... The plates came with the car. Never had been mounted. The guy we got it from had been attempting to build his Fad T for over 35 years that we can do***ent by paperwork. He said he had owned it longer. Frame had to be reworked and so did the suspension. Moved the motor forward and the body back. Moved steering forward. The pitman will clear...I would worry more about the oil pan....We have about 7 inches between it and the ground. The last pic is my youngest daughter (8) with True working on the frame..

I am usually not a big fan of Ts but this one swayed me a little bit. I dig it.

Love it! I have nothing against Fad T's or what they originally stood for though. Gigantic motor, Big HP, tiny light car. I thought 60's styled Fad T's could not be improved upon when it came to a gl*** buckets, of course it's not the first time I've been wrong. I dig it.

Please don't be offended by my opinions. I do like the car. A car with mixed parts(again my opinion) is way better than a car sitting in pieces like this one apparantly was for many years. When I lived in Tucson, at one time there were over 100 t-buckets that had been started and never finished. Nobody really knows today how many are still there, or how many other rod projects there are out there that never get done. I'll bet the percentage of unfinished cars is higher than finished ones, or in my case, cars that just seem to drag on forever. Like someone else said, do it your way, and as long as you are happy thats the important thing!

  22. hey crew,

some kids say an AV8 is the true hot rod, but man T's sure must run a close second. feather weight bodies coupled with some serious HP must make for a fun ride and add some decent styling, youve got a killer ride. well done and max props for getting the little ones involved!
