Some people don't care about money, what it can and can not buy,and the strings attatched. Sometimes,it's just not worth it.
I don't need anymore of those, I'm really damned good at getting them on my own. Just ask the homeowners ***ociation. My problem seems to be finishing them or getting rid of the ones that I probably won't get to. I thought you were tired of money!
Von Dutch said having more money didn't take away the daily struggle to survive, just made it more complicated.
Consumerism...we've been convinced that having more stuff makes us happy. I tend to believe he opposite is true. It's very liberating offloading things. Hell, if we didn't NEED all this ****, the world might have a chance.
Lusting after money has NEVER been a factor in my life. That's probably why I don't have any. The car deal just satisfies my creative and artistic urges....
Money is the easy way, easy to count when it's lost and gained. Gaining and losing things of worth is much harder.
Simplify, simplify, simplify. This coming from a guy who has too many projects. One thing I've done that helps is determining what I really want. Projects get done that way. Money you never have enough of, the more I have the more I spend.
Nope it's gettin' laid, that's what makes the world go round. We build cars to get laid ,we get money to get laid, everything we do we do to get laid. At least I do.
Yeah-Joe's right- all the other stuff is the equivalent of a male pea****'s display. Simple inherent need to spread your genetic material. Your ability to introspect gives you a false sense of importance in the grand scheme of organic things.
Not to break up your "Root of all Evil"(money) post but what did ya get? Pics man. "I got two more projects" and then just leave us hangin is just wrong.
"For the money, for the glory, and for the fun... mostly for the money... Now, yaknow what were gonna do when we get the money? were gonna buy Bretts rocket motor" Bo Darville
I stated downsizing the spair parts around here, don't miss a thing, and I can almost see some of the car & bike projects. We all have "Keeper Projects", has anyone ever finished one?
piss on em man. seriously. one of my neighbors thinks i am out of my mind every time something wanders home with me and sits on the floor or hangs itself on the shop wall. "what the hell do you need with another old motor? "its a flathead" "you already got one of those on that engine stand over there and it dont work" "thats an 8BA, this is a 59AB" "but why?" "they were free" "so? whats it gonna cost to fix em?" "does it matter?" piss on em
you were chasin the same thing brother... you were just chasin it at a slower rate of speed TINGLER... just a slower rate of speed
Money is ancillary to life. You have to have some of it to have life. You gotta eat, you gotta live somewhere, right? So you ain't got a lot of cash - big deal... How rich is your life really? Rich in the sense of do you have true friends, family that loves you, can you read, support yourself, how's your health, do you get to spend time with the ones you love and doing what you love? Do you honor your word? Do you do what you promised? Do you do the right thing even when nobody will ever find out? These are the things that make you rich. You can be poor and be rich or you can be wealthy and be rich. Wealth is a financial state, richness is part of your soul. We as Americans are generally very blessed people. We live in a country where we have anything humanly desired and the means to make vast fortunes if we so choose. You have to ask yourself, "What's the trade-off? Am I willing to forsake my free time with my family and friends to pursue a fortune?" If you are then you've made a choice. If you aren't, you've also made a choice. It's about choices. You can choose to be happy with what you've got or you can choose to pursue more. That may or may not make you happpy. I'd be willing to guess if you're not happy to begin with, money will just exacerbate your problems. Most of us on here are scroungers. We love the old stuff and if we get it in a fair deal, we're good with that. If I had all the money to buy whatever I wanted, I think I'd still know a lousy deal when I saw one. So you can't just cut a check for whatever you want. Don't loose sleep over it. Just work a little harder at making what you have work for you. You can do it with help from your friends and family. The cars are great, but the experiences are greater. There is where the true richness of our "addiction" lies.
Very true! There is no GLORY in being a family man with a mortgage, but in the end, who has more richness of the soul, Donald Trump or that "family man"?
[QUOTE G***ERFREAK and JOHNNY ACE, I'll not bore anyone with pics. The projects I bought are just about enough body parts to build TWO '27 model T tubs or buckets...Now I just have to figure out what to do about it. [/QUOTE] I'll tell you what would make you feel better about life: Make sure I end up with all those spare parts you have left after you build the TINGLER T...
For a second I thought the thing about chasing the green stuff was all about weed. But obviously, weed doesn't make the world go 'round. If it did, the world would spin much slower, and maybe reverse direction once in a while.
