So I wasn't the only one crazy enough to hack not one but two dashes to see how out would turn out, no I didn't do it yet. Only because it can't decide what goes on the passenger side area, clock, fan shaped glove box door ???
    Nice progress on you truck

Looking good. Did or do you fish plate the backside for addt'l support or is that a flanged seam? Or just old fashion but weld seam?

Anyway you cut it ... looks like it came out well.

  11. so i'm at a cross road!! was going to put my bed on today but the new wheels (stock looking ones) that i'm running are gonna rub so i'm at the point were i either need to do a mini tub or find wheels for the rear that have a different offset. i was running corvette ralleys before but in the accident one got bent pretty bad. i like the stock lloking oem wheels better. i'm running a nova axle so its pretty narrow. any suggestions for wheels or should i just tub it?

I've been considering finding someone to put my stock centers into a new hoop for the same reason. I found rearend with the same pattern but it's narrower. Probably more $$$ than is worth

It would help to understand how far off the wheels are. I'm assuming it's rubbing on the rear? Do you have room to spare on the outside of the wheel? Have you considered running spacers?

  14. Yes the rear I had spacers before but now I have new wheels yes plenty of room outside its rubbing inside

  15. ok i was running rally wheels that have a 3.5 inch backspace but one got bent in the accident and since i cliped the truck the rally wheels stick out to far up front now and rub the outside front fender but are fine in the back. so i had a another set of oem style wheels that will work up front that have a 4 inch backspace but wont work for th rear because they sit in to far

  16. so i need either a rally wheel with 4 inch backspace or a oem style wheel that is 3.5 backspace. i'm running spider caps so i need matching wheels been to the junkyard but no luck. i really hate to tub it even if its a mini tub

You should throw a 55 Olds dash in it...

I got tired of looking at my stock dash and decided to make a change

  29. aint gonna lie i love that dash on your old truck, thought about a 56 or 57 car dash but i've cut and welded so much crap (replacement panels etc) so far on this truck if i do do it its gonna be after the body work is done.

  30. I cured my wheel problem [like you, I used a narrow rear axle and had rubbing problems] by going to a positive offset wheel. I bought a pair of old American torque thrust 8.5X15 with 1.5" of positive offset. A common American wheel size. Gave me about 1/4 inch clearance all the way around....they'd look GOOD on your truck and they're still made.
