My buddy called me from Arizona, as he knows I've started a 2 door 50 Fleetline project. He found a 50 Fleet with 4/doors. Turns out to have been owned and stored for years, in Arizona by a couple, now deceased. When the kids sold everything, they forgot about the car, and another mature couple got it. Then, the third owner, a young'un needing coin for a house down payment - and now me, number 4. All original, 49,400 miles on 235/powerglide combo. I jumped on it due to my buddy's recommendation, after he saw the car. I'll take the trailer over to AZ next week to get it out of his garage. Sorry about the photos, as they are from his cell. My plan? Nothing. Drive it. Since I have a basket case 2 door, I don't mind taking the hammer and nails to that one. But this car seems to be pretty much pristine. Upgraded to 12V, but that's about it. I will put skirts on it, as it is a Deluxe! Amazing that these things are still out there!!
That is one fantastic find. It's amazing that no one screwed it up over the years. I have a 1949 Fleetline special 4 door. It is defiantly one of the few models that doesn't lose anything by having the extra doors.
I may be wrong but I doubt the motor is original if its a 235. To my knowledge those came out in 53. Its a better motor though so no complaints. Thats one beautiful ride. Congrats.
some as my 50 moredoor fleet, except yours is in very good shape.! the powerglide cars came with a babbit spalsh oiler 235. not exactly a hot rod inliner but if it runs keep it and have fun
Nice find and in really good shape from what I could see on my phone screen. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Just got it home from Arizona, and in the driveway today. Aired the tires up, and she steers pretty good. Engine purrs! Very nice. Odometer reads 49336!
