who's going to the little york car show & swap meet this sunday? this will be my first trip. been trying to go for the last couple of years but life gets in the way. any feedback out there?
Haven't been there is quite a few years, (Damn, I only live 20 miles away !!) but have heard that it is still a very good/strong show. VR&C.
yup we'll be there if the weather holds. Its a good show with a decent swap meet. We usually dont bring a car to that show since we always bring the 58 impala to the filmore glen show a couple weeks ago. That show is just as big but has a worse flea market. Little york is a nice venue and always something different to see
I'll be attending. I went last year for the first time, loved it. Its in a great spot, and really has an "old school" feel to it. If your going to the swap meet for find good car parts its not worth your time. Loads of what I call "throw away parts" and other random junk people want stupid money for. I did however buy a big ol' stack of '50s Hot Rod Magazines last year. I'm thrashing on my car now in hopes of having it there Sunday. Its a haul for me. Roughly 20-30minutes South of the 'Cuse. My car absolutely hated driving down Rt81, I drove back up Rt11 on the way home. This year thats all gonna be different, complete drivetrain swap in progress...
I just found out.....through here...that the show is this weekend and it would be the first time taking my '40 up there. Been there as a spectator and always enjoyed it. The flathead loves the cruise from Binghamton up Rt. 11, much more fun than 81 and scenery is sweet.
The show is heald at Dwyer Memorial Park in Little York, NY. Here's a website with a little info about it, but it hasn't been updated in quite a few years. http://www.nycarclubs.com/caac/ Its always a nice show to end the season. There's generally at least a couple hundred cars on the show field, and even though the flea market isn't as good as it used to be, I still usually manage to find something to bring home!
its not too bad most of the swap meet stuff i pickd through last week end at wamps ville show sory boys early bird gets the worm lol
Anyone heading North through Binghamton Sunday morning on the way there, meet up and do the rt. 11 trip there?.....('cept for going on 81 around Cortland)
i recomend you boys do the rt 11 i81 is prety ruff they have ben laying black top and i think the guy runing the level was sick that day once you get too cortland its not too bad though just whitney point through marathon is ruff just like speed bumps
theres also a show down towrds owego at some restored old gas station im going too check that one out for something difrent
I JUST got in from taking my car out for the first drive with the new motor. I'm pretty confident she'll make the drive, but I'm still a bit hesitant about going. I'm just not comfortable enough with it yet, we'll see what mood i'm in in the morning.
thats warren center pa. I havnt been there in a few years since little york is the same day but its a nice little show. no swap meet though. youll want to go down pennsylvania ave in apalacan and over
Flyer for 2013 came in the mail and I open it up it's overstamped "Cancelled due to unforseen cir***stances" ... anyone hear why? A lot of flooding around upstate NY this summer but I haven't heard of anything there, there is that bridge to cross to get in the show area of the park but the water would have to come up high enough to flood I-81 I think to get that.
The parking Lot (a.k.a. - Field) was planted with Corn this year. OOPS ! Since the lot (s) along RT. 281 were the man parking lot for the Hundreds if not Thousands of the spectators cars, they can not pull off the event with no parking for the spectators. VR&C.
You know, I seem to remember going there one year before I was a regular vendor at the shows and parking in that field and it had corn planted that had already been harvested, the stumps of the stalks were obvious all through it. Might have been literally 20 years ago, I think I drove down in my folks' Buick.
