If you go www.pure-gas.org You can locate a gas station that sells ethanol-free gas in your state. E10 gas sucks.....E15 will be worse.
Yes, Ethanol Gas around here is Rare as hell. the list keeps getting smaller and smaller I will ad that a lot of the stations that held out on using Ethanol for as long as they could but faced lawsuits and huge legal battles to continue if not switching over to using it. Not sure how that works but makes me mad to think about it.
In this area one distributors Conaco stations have ethanol free gas. When I was on vacation in my boat I watched a guy fill his 32 Packard roadster with non ethanol gas from the marina I was staying at. It took him three trips up and down the ramp with a five gallon gas jug but he got it done. My 71 GMC daily driver runs great on it Jeff but the gent with the Packard I mentioned above said it screwed up his fuel pump and carb and he had to go through the whole fuel system. That car is stone stock and I doubt they sell carb or fuel pump pieces for it that can handle the ethanol. Everything on my engine is 79 or later including the Edelbrock carb.
list not accurate is an understatement and aside from being discussed to the ends of sanity it is just a goofy to build a car that you can only drive around town.
Yep! I used that iste to find one a couple miles from my house. FIlled my 35 up with it's first tank of gas there. I figure maybe I don't get it every time from there but couldn't hurt to use it as often as I can.....except the wallet. Hurts the wallet.
A gas station that is somewhat near me is on that list and before I knew it was ethanol free I stopped there one day and filled up my daily driver. I know exactly how long a tank lasts me because I drive exactly the same places every week. For some reason I got REALLY better milage from that particular tank of gas and was commenting on it. Then I saw the list and realized I had bought gas without ethanol in it. They say you get 10% better milage without it, but I sure got a lot better than that. I wish that station was closer because I would go there more often, even though they charge more per gallon. Don
My A coupe has a small block Ford in it. I usually look for non E fuel, and run the top tier on the octane. Made a mistake and gassed at a usual spot then noticed they had added the ethanol sticker for 10% to the pump. Everything was fine for a few days then it started flooding. I gassed again and did a tune up but it still is running rich and will load up or flood. My best guess is that the float needle tip is shot.
I use the local Pure gas station for my daily drivers. I see a definite increase in MPG over the ethanol blend sold elsewhere. Or, should I say, the ethanol blend sold everywhere gets worse MPG that the Pure gas does. ;-)
I live near the tiny town of Chiefland, Florida on Rt 19-98-Alt27. West coast of the East coast. Lots of names for one highway! There are at least two stations, one is a Pure, that handle Marine fuel. Other station far south end of town. Something like 25 cents a gallon more. Some people swear by it. I never really noticed but probably didn't use it enough to get it mixed and use all the corn juice that was in my tank. Don't know if it's really legal for street use but they sell it to anyone. Now that most of the corn dried up in the midwest that ethanol crap will continue to raise in cost.
Lawn mower runs just fine on 10% ethanol, but I guess I could run clear across town to the gas station in "the neighborhood" to pay more for gas to run in it. I'll have to load up the parabellum before I leave. Just find find out that the station is all boarded up. I have yet to go to a station on that list that actually had gasoline. I normally drive my cars on a daily basis and anywhere in the lower 48 that I think I need to be. If I tunned for gasoline only (and I do keep my cars tunned on the nat's ass) I would pretty much be screwed. The list is fine if you find a station on it that is really a gas station and you own a putz around hobby car but if you drive 'em you need 'em to run on whatever you can find. I have actually posted a link to that list before myself, I think it is admirable that you did so as well. I stopped posting it when I realized that if it was wrong about KC it was probably wrong about other places as well. I wouldn't want to be responsible for someone planning their trip around it only to find themselves about 14 miles from Stale Sandwich and end up rejetting.
I believe that in Wisconsin, all premium gas is all ethanol free now. Not sure if it's by law or if this is just what the suppliers sell but I've noticed it more and more over there. In MN the MN Street Rod Association maintains a list of gas stations and they call and verify them every year.
frank I think we are going to see more gasoline at least for a while. The drought hit the corn crop pretty hard. I do know that when I was in Tulsa there were stations all over town with signs out boasting ethanol free gasoline. If I lived in Tulsa I would own two sets of carbs, one set up for gasoline and one set up for mix.
You're right about us seeing less of it, but you might be wrong on the reason. $6bln/year in federal ethanol subsidies are up for expiration at the end of this year. Fat chance that those DC crooks are going to renew it. Will be good for some and bad for others.... at least my lawn mower will be happy.
They have been trying tha ethanol stuff since the '70s that I know of. The Govt subsidizes it and it goes like gang busters, the subsidy goes away the ethanol goes away. Now if we could get the govt to subsidize methanol I would be all over that.
