I bought a subscription, for a couple of years, right when RF took over, now you see my problem. :(

Well, that was easy, the lady on the phone did laugh when I gave my reason for canceling. :)

  3. For every guy who does not like chrome billet wheels... there is 1000 people that do.

I guess my point is... the magazines know their target better than you do... they change with trends, so "so what" if you don't like the change. Do you not remember the van craze? What about motorcycles in HRM? Go Karts? Oh, the vans and bikes ****ed, but go karts were cool, huh?

Well, you got ****ered into that "trend"...

And BTW, trends happen because the "trendy" thing is cool.

Just look at "traditional rat rods"!

    Sam.

you know as an impartial to this bickering, i do have to say that in the past i felt like i was ****ered by CT mag. just when you think you got something new to read, you find out that its just highlights from the bigger brother mag (truckin). which ****s.

but the biggest surprise i have come to find out ( and dissappointment as well) is that RF is the man behind that mag. i have watched his negative *** talk more **** to people here on the hamb, than help anyone. i would think in his position he would be the first one to jump in and help someone.

now i dont personally care too much about the magazine scene as a whole cuz there is rarely something im interested in, from time to time i see a tech article im interested in, but for the most part (and im sure alot of people here feel the same) i feel my truck is cooler or lower than whats showcased. or that the way i did a certain install is better than the way they teach it, but again thats all personal perception, and experience.

i hope that one day RF pulls his head out and realizes that he should change his at***ude, and if not, he will isolate himself.

I'm actually taking a marketing cl*** right now, so can't claim any real credit or much original thought (although the Shula-Baskerville was mine:D )...but it must have sunk in somewhere! It is obvious though...if you stop & think a bit...

I wish it would "take" well enough so I could quit "goofing off" on the web & actually "write" my papers!:D :D This is interfering with my hot rod work!:D

I don't get it. Magazine guys get to get paid to go to shows, look at cool cars and trucks, meet most of my heros and influences, write about it and even occasionally get comped parts and labor. Yet many of them seem a bit thin skinned. Is a fragile ego necessary to be an editor?

Magazines will be around as long as people must use the toilet. So, I really DO give a **** about them.

    YMMV

Why would anyone think 10,000 HAMBers would give two ****s that they don't like a given magazine...

    It's a magazine...
    You don't like it...

Brilliant! Now I can go about my day with a much fuller understanding of the world around me.

The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing...

    And everything is so GREEEEENN!

I don't know how I lived before this day.

It's like before, when I'd wake up in the moring, everything was in black-and-white...

    Now I have COLOR!!!

Wow i have never seen so many narrowminded whining babaies in my life. Maybe he should just show rattle can flat black trucks, with red spray can wheels and call it old school trucks. Those 3 pics at the top of this post were taken from the last 2 or 3 issues. Rob has only been at the helm for about 9 or 10 months and everyone knows the mag is about 3 months behind in the makings. I have done a handfull of tech articles for his mag this year and none involved Must II or a floor shifter.

If you look at the kick *** cars he has personally owned, you know his taste is good. Just look at is 54 chevy that this is kick *** and I saw pics of 32 he used to own or still does.

So in conclusion take the 3.99 you save on not buyin the mag and go over to the spray paint department at Walmart and buy some flat black and shiney red paint for you wheels and "Old school" Your 4 door hand me down tonight. Walmart is open 24 hours, so do it now. Chicks dig it.

I feel left out- could one of you cowardly lemmings hiding behing a chat board fake name please kick me in the nuts too? Or maybe you could post a picture of yourself along with your work address so we can stop by and critique YOUR work? There has to be SOMETHING you could be ridiculed about. Then we could come back and make a big post about how you don't know what you are doing. Or we could just use the manly and tactful route of just addressing you directly about the things we think you could improve. Or maybe McShifty and GreaseMonkey could just get a room instead of continuing thier public display of affection. I always hate these posts because it makes you believe that EVERYONE feels the same way when a handful of yokels go on and on for pages with their rips and no one steps in with an opposing opinion. No other person could or ever does get as beat up as the magazine guys. But then you put out a magazine that you think has raised the bar and hit it straight out of the park and you don't even hear a whisper. I guess if no one complains you are doing a great job?

Thats about the truth right there, All my mags are either out in the garage in boxes or next to the can. And if you were so honored as to take a load off in my "quiet room"(two kids and all) you would see a very wide variety of books to include CT, R&C, SR, OSR, Hot VW's, etc... My point is not all mags appeal to what I like, but I can take what does interest me from each of them and move on to the next. I subscribe to almost all of them. Why because if twice a year I pick up one particular mag at the newstand and I have to have it, I damn near just spent a full years subscription. You cannot beat that. Plus while I'm on "quiet time" I can read and get ideas from even the cars that I don't particularly care for but they might have done "somthing" to that car that I do like, and I would never had known if I had been so close minded as to scoff the company for trying to make money. Thats what people are in busness to do ya know.
