The issue is that the turn signal lights in the front work correctly but when you turn the signal on the ones in the rear both sides flash until you apply the brakes then they quit and just the brake lights come on. The signal in the front then stays lit constantly with the brake lights too. All the bulbs are good. Any ideas on what i should be looking for? Wire to wire short somewhere between turn signal wires and brake light wires?

I would think that would be the cause, but where the short is is the question. You might have a short in the turn signal switch, or in the wiring itself. What happens when you have the turn signals off, and the brake depressed? Do the front turn signals light up?
Sounds like the turn signal switch.

The brake lights work normally and the front signal lights stay off when the turn signals arent being used

Unplug the flasher and measure with a volt ohm meter (using the ohms position) for a short between the brake light switch (wire going to the turn signal switch (side without 12v on it)) and the flasher (side without 12V with the ignition on.) If shorted, it could be either the wiring to the turn signal switch, or the switch itself. Hope this helps.

Will do. So are you talking about the wire that goes to the turn signal switch from the flasher and then the wire from the brake light switch to the turn signal switch?

I may post the brake light and turn signal diagrams up in a few minutes too. So you can take a look at them.

Here are the diagrams. Tried to get them to fit the best i could. The one on the right shows the wiring to and from the switch. The left picture just shows the brake light switch. thanks

I have a question.... This car is converted to 12V so if I do need a new switch do I need one that is for a 56 or something that would be 12V? Also i am wondering if this is the factory switch if the car running on 12V is causing the malfunction?

Yes, those are the wires. The diagram on the right side is the one to use, the left one must be without turn signals.

A 12V switch will probably work ok.
