Is it safe to run 2" 5x4.5 wheel spacers up front... 40's International pickup, has disc brakes up front. 16x8 wheels..... Thank you boooooob
Depends on the spacers. I've run 2" billet spacers for years on one of my cars, and never had an issue. I would check the lugnuts a couple times a year, just to ensure they're never loosening, but that's just me. So far they've always been tight.
2 inch spacers is alot, but people do it everyday. You would need to get good billit spacers, and DONT get a couple of smaller ones and stack them together. They also need to have seperate studs, so you will bolt the spacer to the truck with the oem studs, and then the wheels will bolt to the spacer with seperate studs. It might actaully be cheaper, easier, and safer to just get wheels that fit. BRian
Thank you guys, this is for my neighbor "crazy mike" he already has the tire set 265/50/16's, way too wide for me up front..he already has the spacers, they are heavy duty aluminum look like some sort of military type part.. Problem is he needs lots of negitive offset to clear the steering, and there is a limit on $, his wheels he has are way too positive,(plus they were 16x7, not really enough) spacer cannot correct (buying parts blindly with no measurements), 5" or 4" backspace will give 3" or 2". These wheels are pretty easy to get and not too $. Wheel vintiques/ Summit Racing Would you recommend putting some sort of thread locker on the wheel studs... Probably not a lot to worry about, if and when he gets this thing going, he will probably crash it before any other problems happen..... Thank you boooooob
