To my wifes annoyance, I like to discuss plans for my '27 with her. With winter soon approaching, Its about time to finally straighten out my body - fix the rot, and do my patch panels correctly instead of quick and dirty to get me by like I have in the past (just to be clear, we're talking about the car, not me). The subject of color came up. Currently running with rattle can black with clichetastic red wheels, and thanks to multiple threads on the Hamb, I've been thinking about black on black - black wheels, black body, black engine, black interior. In the past we have discussed a really dark grey, dark as I can get it without being considered black then keeping red engine/wheels/interior. But thanks to a new shiny penny sitting on my coffee table, I started thinking of copper and black. Flat/satin black body, copper wheels. Kind of thinking that could look sick. I'm sure I've seen it before, but guess I haven't paid much attention to it. I've seen some beautiful copper cars, but wondering if any of ya'll have pics of black and copper cars - specifically black with copper wheels. Does copper colored paint translate well? Any pics out there? Google wasn't my friend in my search.
Black and copper are a very cl***y combination. I think you'll find that combo on some early expensive rides. Just use glossy paint. I think we may have had enough of primers and dead paint finishes. I hope so anyway.
I'm thinking it'll be pretty sharp. Thinking about it more, I'll probalby go check out some local powder coaters and see what samples they may have and will look at powder coating the wheels copper. As far as dull paint finishes...I don't know if i trust my body work abilities enough to get a straight enough body to put glossy black paint on my car. Also swore I'd never own a glossy black car because I'm what you call lazy and don't want to wax the damned thing all the time. I guess outside of a pic request that is still standing...what about the chrome caps and rings on the wheels. Would chrome accents on a copper wheel look like hell?
Gold over black looks ok, too, ala Smokey Yunick's famous race cars (also with red trim). Perhaps copper over black in a similar style some how? Or black over copper like this artist's deception? Gary
I'm a big fan of copper. But it has to be copper and not that burnt orange that is so popular now. I know my 57 isn't what you asked for but I couldn't resist. It's called aztec copper....
We were at Pinkee's last night with the Rod Father tour and there is a black /copper deuce 2 door on the tour that I have see before. Really nice car! I talked with the gentleman who owns it for a few minutes and was very impressed with both he and the car. Sorry, I didn't get any pics, but someone on here knows the car I'm talking about.
Bad Penny...don't care if its not what i asked for, thats bad***. As are the other examples posted. Brigrat....that just F'ing sold me. I hope I can make mine translate half as well.
