I'm looking for a pinion seal part number and brand for a 47 dodge 1/2 ton truck. Thanks, Greg

The other problem is getting it out. I wanted to see the new one so I can figure how to get it out. Thanks

Try Sweptline.org maybe. They have a lot of info on all of the old Dodge trucks. They've been happy to help people with earlier and later trucks, not just the '61-'71 Sweptlines.

If the axle is the same as the '55 that I have, the pinion seal is a royal pain to remove. I spent about 2 days trying to get it out. Mangled it pretty badly. I ordered one from Bernbaum's and luckily it fit perfectly. I think it cost me about $22 plus shipping. www.oldmoparts.com.

For any info re: parts, dealers, etc. join the: 39-47Dodge@yahoogroups.com as they have it all. I belong and it saves a ton of time researching this type of info. I have a '42 fargo and got the pinion seal installed with a speedy sleeve as the modern seal apparently doesn't seal as good as the older seal.

Sorry, I may have confused you... the speedy seal was just a precaution re: minor wear. The seal I used was the old Trostel p/n T5851. If you can get one of these your golden though the newer seals should work OK as well. Now at least you have a start.
