i am wondering if anyone makes a GASOLINE RESISTANT satin finish clear powder coat??? or any gasoline resistant powders at all. my frined has a small (side line) powder coat business and he has only done one intake manifold (chrome finish powder) and it was NOT gasoline resistant. i have a new aluminum intake i would like to have coated, just to help keep it looking nice and make it easier to clean. ceramic coat would be nice but i need this to be cheap. he'll buy the powder and use a little on my intake and we'll work out some sort of "good buddy" deal to handle the cost. anyone do powder coat or know what product i need and where i can get it FOR SURE?? thanks
I've been getting some from pendry*coatings on eBay and if you look some of them are fuel resistant. I don't buy enough to be able to get from some of the bigger suppliers... but so far it seems to hold up real well.... I'll use the fuel resistant clear over a regular color...
I agree, I have had great luck with Pendry Powders. You just have to be careful with the clear as it can easily produce hairline cracks. I had to clear coat smoked chrome with a high gloss and I got a great surface finish but there were small tiny cracks, mainly from under curing.
not sure where to get it but the race kart chassis's i build have a clear coat that you can leave sitting in petrol, or better yet, brake fluid for three days straight and it wipes off with no evidence of it being there. so yeah, it does exist mike.
Theres a guy in greenville mi. thats pretty cheap and pretty good, I think Denny Leski knows who he is....Pat
