Tried about everything. 51 chevy 216. Car was at idle, stalled, and could not start. Fuel bowl was looking low. Figured it was bad fuel pump so replaced. Blew through both lines in both directions and seems fine. When I put my finger over the out hole, it seems to be ****ing and not pumping out. It is def not on backwards and the finger of the pump is sitting on the came lobe. I've checked it 4 times. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks in advance.
Suction goes to tank , Something IS DEF backwards. Also , your lines can **** air but not leak fuel. Keep that in mind when you start going half nuts.
X2 on backwards Your pump may be on correctly but the lines are backwards. Switch them and see what happens. It should work just fine. you can check this with a jar or cup of fuel and a short run of hose, place hose into jar of fuel and see if it ****s it out. Godspeed MrC.
Someone at the fuel pump rebuild discount center put the check valves in backwards! Do like was suggested, hook up to gas supply and actuate the cam lever to see if it pumps out.
Haha.. thanx for all the replies.. the rebuilt fuel pump was rebuilt backwards. I took the new and old pumps apart and compared them. The 2 little ports on the inside top of the pump were reversed compared to the orig one. I swaped them around and it fired right up.. crazy.. guess you can't put anything past a rebuild unless you've done it yourself.
Haha. ...and I never run the tank at less than a quarter.. don't trust the old style sending unit. I watch the milage like a mf'er.. but with some kats you never kno.. haha
