striped drill press (pic)

    heres a 50's era Delta drill press my buddy striped for me
    it still works like a charm, i inherited it from my father in law
    i had to clean it up a bit, sat in a barn for 20 plus years

    I used to sell those "old Birds"; - They didn't look as good back then!
    They probably will last sometime into the next century!

    i have one of those "old birds",and it is in need of a table,(original one cracked and welded casting),not too pretty i might add.

    should someone happen across a parts machine,
    please keep me in mind plz.

    and that striped one looks cool!

    my Pop has one jist like that... its the Rockwell version, but the same dam press tho. there is an entire habbit. er umm,,, 'scuze me, i ment to say hobby in restoring old machines. i got a couple of old Wood working machines myself and i'll tell ya, they dont make em worth a shit like they once did

    It supposedly came from a shop using overhead pulleys for power, bought by my dad in the late thirties or early forties, near as I can figure. Dunno who converted it to electric power.

    i have 40 delta rockwell 20" drill heads....but they are 3 phase, not much use for them.

    You could change the motor to a single phase (5 HP capacitor start) by the looks of it.
    They are BIG! Both in size, weight and capacity.
    Those were normally found in production shops.
