Don's Hot Rods recently posted about all the spammers on here lately promoting UFC fights and crap. Here's an excerpt from the post:

"We've been getting a lot of scammers on board with stupid posts about movies, etc lately.........every forum is having this problem, and they usually sneak in between midnight and 6 am.

One thing that I didn't know until the Mod's PM'd me is that we don't want to post anything on that thread because you run the risk of some of your stuff being deleted when they zap the offender. I know it is tempting to tell the idiot to get lost, or to post "reported" so other members know it has been done, but I guess that can cause you some issues."

The bottom line is don't post a response. Just click on the "report" button and move on. With all the traffic on the board, the spam will quickly move to the bottom if nobody replies, the mods will delete the post and the poster, and there's no risk of any of YOUR other posts, pictures, etc. getting lost. Plus it makes the moderators work a lot easier.

Maybe the mods should write up a quick note regarding the subject and "sticky" it.

I thought they wanted you to post reported as so 50 people aren't reporting the same thing.

No, they posted a while back that it is best to NOT post "reported" to the spam threads. Easier for them to just blast the post without worrying about a genuine member being accidentally popped in the process.

Responding to a spam post is futile since the OP is not likely to be back, or unable to be back to see answers. They drop the bomb and run.

Spammers don't check any updates so whatever you post never gets seen by them, also by posting you send there link back to the top where other members see it instead of the real threads that we all come here for so its best to just report it and let it die.

They want you to quote their post. It's best just to press "report" and leave it at that. Don't post any reply at all...

Back up in light of recent spam. Some members obviously have not seen this thread.

Some of them are probably from some less than bright individual (s) who answered work from home on your computer adds.

Best to just hit report and let it die rather then answer it even though it's always tempting.

  15. They may feel that building a post count makes them look like a legit poster, but could be they can't even read enough english to know how to make a post that makes sense.

Some of them do that then post picture links that never work, too.
