So I'm in Texas for the weekend and decided to make the trip from Dallas to Austin this morning to Jesse James' shop in Austin. Website and shop door say they are open til 3 on Saturday and I show up at 130 and the place is empty...really kind of pissed. I'm here anyway I guess. Is there anything anyone recommends doing while I'm here.

I'd find something to justify the drive. no use being pissed, it'll only ruin your trip. good luck

They probably had to close early for some reason, you can't blame them it's just bad luck on your part.

I've always enjoyed Austin the most when I see the city limit sign as I'm leaving.

I'm not all that pissed anymore, I just really wanted to see his roadster and maybe a shirt for the kids. But the beer will certainly help.I can't imagine what would make them shut down and send even the guy at the counter home though.

You're just the latest in a long line of people who've been disappointed by Jesse.

Drop a deuce by the door!;)

before a drive of that magnitude, I'd have called to find out for sure. All kinds of things can cause a business to deviate from hours posted on line or in the phone book. If it's important to me - I verify. Regardless, I hope you found something meaningful to do in town.

Go to the Continental Club and have a few drinks. That will cool ya down and give you some perspective. The Club is really the capital of the Austin Hot Rod World. You can't go wrong.

Shops close, cause life happens. If it was more than a 20 minute drive, always call. I have closed my shop down many times for a car show, or just left a gopher to run the parts counter and not let ANYONE in the shop. Jesse is just like any guy, hes just had more luck than some.

  15. Any trip to Austin without a stop by the Continental is just a trip.
I would have dropped by for a gl*** of anything that's cool regardless of what ever else I did.

****, I remember this one time when I drove across country ,Chicago to Cali to a theme park, took the wife, two kid, a great aunt, a dog. Stayed with some really strange relatives in Kansas and some how the dog got killed in an accident and then the wife's aunt p***ed away but what really ****ed was that the park was closed for repair. Some crazy stuff happened but it all turned out for the good.

It's become the norm for businesses to close whenever they feel like it. My favorite are the businesses who tell you 'Don't come by between 11AM and 2PM because we close for lunch".

Lofe is better cruising down the road instead of buying a t shirt that a million other people own or are going to own in the future!
