Had a blast at Bonneville!!!! I couldn't begin to list all of the HAMBer's I met. Lots of great people!!!! I do have to thank BobK for getting us a room Sat night. He put up with a lot of back and forth ****. Thanks Bob!! You're not bad for an old guy The car ran great and I put over a 100 miles on it just on the salt. I did drive the car home 2200 miles. It was an adventure! I wanted to leave the salt on the car to have some fun on the road and when we got home but I didn't even make it to Salt Lake city. It was blowing in my eyes and I couldn't see. We talked a girl at a gas station into letting us use her hose. I did try to wash up the salt a little so she wouldn't get in trouble. The next thing I had to take care of was a rear tire that was way out of balance. Larry had brought a pair of extra tires he had for spares so we switched them in. At first I hated the whitewalls but they grew on me. The mixed matched look made the car look older. We only mad it into Wyoming the first night. We left late and all my fooling around had us behind. Monday we switched out the cushions I had made for some soft foam Larry had in his trailer. Then we drove across Wyoming and Nebraska making it to Lincoln Neb. Nebraska is 400 miles of NOTHING! Wyoming on the other hand has some beutiful scenery. Late in the day the starter went bad. So I got a new one.....Larry. He push started the car the rest of the trip. My new starter has a little whine to it I'll have to check it out Tuesday we were doing good. Finished off Nebraska. Then about half way through Iowa we stopped for Lunch and gas. It just so happened that there was no deisel for Larry at that exit. After lunch and I fueled up we went to the next exit to get Larry deisel. While he was fueling up I was checking out the car. I noticed a tire mark on the p***enger quarter...NOT good! I crawled under the car and found my panard bar bracket was tearing the frame apart. I guess my hot laps on the salt took it's toll on the car. Luckily a UPS guy was fueling up and gave us directions to a couple of places. First try was no good but then we found a smal weld shop. They hooked me up big time! If you are in the area and need them Driscoll welding in Williamsburg Iowa kicks ***!! Great people. It took about an hour to get us back on the road. They even helped Larry push start the car. After fighting the traffic around Chicago and getting cut off by some idiot we made it to the Ohio border tuesday night and crashed there till morning. I guess we saved the worst roads for last and it's a good thing. By the time I got home I was beat to death. All in all we were pretty lucky. the weather was great the whole time. The car performed pretty well. Hell that nailhead that I hated so much is growing on me. It got a little over 18 mpg and only used one quart of oil. I'll shut up now and show you some pics. Clark
Here's some shots of my car with a couple of HAMBer's cars....Visor,Them,Todd553 BobK cruising around I couldn't help but take a picture of the car infront of the SoCal cars
Clark, that 652 coupe is freakin amazing!! i cant imagine what it looks like in person!! Kool pics Thanks...
Marking the calendar now. Clark those pics are very nice. Glad to hear you guys made it there and back for the most part without major incident. The minor ones just make for good stories. As for western Nebraska, Nothing is beautiful isn't it?

PakRat....we're talkin maybe in two years going again. Come on Deuche bag! Squigy....that car stopped me in my tracks. Not too many of the cars have a traditional look but that one did. Clark
Glad you guys had a safe trip. Now how about some more pictures! You must have worn Larry out he hasn't posted any pics of his new ride. Man it looks like it was a great trip.
Was the best trip ever! Sooooo many cool people and cars. Heres Clark trying to find his way to the salt...he knows its there, the sign says so! Here we are making friends everywhere we go. Nice look. Mr. Salty before we had to wash it off. Sorry about the giant photos. It was quick and easy.
Clark, great pics. I love the one of your car in front of So Cal's cars. I'm gonna try to ship your name plate tomorrow. Later Count
Fatabone...you shoulda been there. Standing there on the starting line as they fired them up or at the 4 mile marker as they flew past you......they sound like an airplane on the ground. Clark Nice pics Larry....you win I couldn't wait.
Almost forgot...we stoped at Speedway Motors to tour the museum on the way out. The most incredible collection of stuff in the world!! Loads of cool 4 banger conversions, race cars, toys, pedal cars, you HAVE to stop if you ever get anywhere near Linclon NE. I loved this air cooled conversion, anybody know about it?
Clark, Glad you had a good time, hope to get out there some day myself. Whos 1930-31 Ford roadster is in the photo above the #652 coupe? Something about it just looks right to me.
Clark and ScarryLarry were just plain cool. Enjoyed the visit and really digged the coupe. Man is that thing gonna be cool when he chops it and gets some gl*** in it. Was really *****in' seeing that jalopy runnin' around spraying salt all over it. Met Cword and OGNC and a few others. All cool guys just groovin' on the coolest place on earth.(Well, not really cool in the literal sense of the word). I gotta chance to rub shoulders with the Rolling Bones guys in the Hop Up pit and hang with that group. Congrats to Mark Morton for hitting 113 and some change in his 27 T roadster. I guess he gets a t-shirt now.(100mph club) Absolutely wild set up with the new Hop Up 56 Ford panel truck and matching trailer. First cl*** all the way man. My dad and I ******ed him and Mild Mitch the last 75 miles into Wendover along with another cool 32 Ford roadster. Was such a thrill seeing that setup on the road.My Dad and I Had the greatest time and realized a lifelong dream to have our cars out there together. Got my rpu shot for Hop Up by Peter Vincent. Drove 1750 miles with minimal problems and had a great time. Lifes good right now. Hambers! You gotta make Bonneville a priority! You won't regret it. See ya on the salt!
Nice pictures! Looks like it was a blast. Whats that monstrosity of a Flathead in the last pic? Never seen one like that. -Dean

Also cool to hang out with THEM! and Lucky, BLEH and Carl (thanks for the search), Bob K, Leon and Mrs., Sodbuster, Todd553...just too many cool people in one spot!
Great adventure story Clark. Looks like you and Larry had an awesome time. THose are some great pics. I'm sure you have many more. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Thanks for sharing your adventures. Brings back lots of great Salt Week memories for me. Please post more. I'm also very happy to hear that you guys are back home safe and sound along with alot of other HAMB folks that went.
Thanks everybody!! I forgot to add the Speedway tour that Larry posted. I don't have any pics cause some dumb*** deleted all those pics....ME! We could have spent all day there. Unbeleivable collection! Anybody know anything about the tan car that looks like an exotic Bugatti or something. Cool car! I'm still in overload mode from the weekend. There was just so much to take in. There were HAMBers I didn't get to see and HAMBers that I didn't get a chance to talk to... Drewfus where were you?? We tried to get everything in we could. We hung out at the Golden Nugget which was full of cool hot rods at night. We hung out at the Motel 6 parking lot having a few beers with a couple of HAMBers. Saturday night we were at the bend in the road for the pyrotechnics. You had to be on your feet out there. Fireworks were going off in every direction and a few people forgot which way the sparks were going when they were spinning the steelwool. Then in the middle was a blinding fire of magnesium. A pyro's dream!!!! Larry's new car was a big hit. People would come by all weekend saying they remembered the car and how cool it was. I don't have any pics. I had salt in my eyes while they were loading it and I could barely see. More pics Clark
