Damn! If someone thinks that's ugly they never understood customs in the first place.. It couldn't have found a better home.
Hell Yeah.............You are the man to have this subscribed for all the updates.............oh yeah whats up with the wire wheels I like em they would look good on my sons Vicky..........
I thought you were out of room at your place and then you add another and another. I bet if you try real hard you can find room for more. AND PLEASE DO. Because they are in good hands. Congradulations!
Congratulations, Mark! You're the man. Maybe next, you and Rik can unearth that Jimmy Summers '36 Ford that was stuck out in Ohio a year or so ago? Best of luck on this one. I know it'll be awesome.
Now this is why i love the Hamb. Im kean to watch how Mark brings this back, like we all know he will.
Awwwe Les Po Po is alive!! Can't wait to document the build mark.. I love that car!! It was Barris answer to El Matador.. I want to see those two together too!! G.I..M
The new issue of Kustoms Illustrated #32 has been printed and will be send out to the subscribers world wide. Among the many great articles in this issue there is a 5 spread article on the recently "found" Bob Crespo 1940 Ford Coupe Les PoPo. The article tells the whole story about this great 1960's Custom Car including many never before published photos. Photos showing the car with the fresh just primer-ed sectioning by Hal Hutchins, and in primer fresh from the Barris shop as well as several photos of the car being finished in its several versions. Photos from the Barris Collection, the Bob Crespo family Collection, The Bill Usedom Collection and the Rik Hoving Collection. Another great new issue from the best all Custom Car magazine around.
Congrats on getting the car and "saving it" so as to "bring it back" to its glory. I always wonder how such beautiful customs end up just sitting and deteriorating. Hope you got all the trim parts.
Well, that car is in the right hands now! Great to know it will be brought back to life, by someone who "gets it".
Actually I think both cars are ugly. HOWEVER, I do appreciate the work and modifications to both cars, and understand that even though it's not my taste alot of people love them. Glad they are still still around because they are a part of hot rod and custom history, and know that they will be returned to thier former glory.
Mark, Just awesome that you chased this down and will bring it back to life to let others see and appreciate it! Congrats and THANKS! Eric
Mark - Another fitting addition to your remarkable collection. Thanks for dedicating your time and talent to saving these cars.
Seems like it's been a few months since the last update, but I think it's flat-out GREAT that somebody "in the know" has found/bought this car and has good intentions for it. Some say it was comissioned as a Barris "rebuttal" to the "El Matador", which seemingly might have been true back then, but that is beside the point. Regardless of if you like it or not, this car is still a documented piece of history and deserves it's place in the ranks. Surely it is better that this car is found and restored vs. lost or otherwise desecrated. Please keep us posted whenever you can!
Although I like 40's looking kinda stock --I was always a big fan of both this car and the ElMatador--glad to see someone get it who will do it justice.
