Hello, I am as much of an FNG as is possible. I was just gifted a '51 Buick Special from my lovely wife. I have been dreaming of lead sleds for a long time and I am excited to get started, but clueless where to begin. I hope you don't mind me picking your brains and seeking some guidance...

Greetings from the west coast of Florida.

Where did you find the 51 Buick?

The body looks to be in real good shape.

    Best Regards Jimbo

Thanks for the welcomes. A buddy of mine found the car for me. It has been in the same family since it rolled off the dealer's lot and I believe it has claimed Orange County, California as its home for the majority of its' lifetime. I got it from the son of the man who bought it :) It was in their hands and well taken care of except for a period of about a year and a half because it was stolen. Whoever stole it, replaced the holes in the floor board with tin real estate signs and strange odds and ends. The front seat was never bolted back down, so it just rests in the car. It looks like they tried to convert to a 12 volt system, but I am not sure how far they got. The gas tank was replaced at some point, but the filler was left to hang below the frame instead of being put back where it goes. Needless to say, I am excited about it, and I know I have a lot to learn, but I think this is going to be a good starter car!
and, liljonny, there are plenty of days that I am sorry I am in Hemet, too, so I claim to be closer to wine country, Temecula to make me feel better about myself! ha, ha!

Nice car! I have a 53 and they are a blast to work on. The HAMB is a great place to post your questions. Good luck with the project.
